Stayed for the Anzac Day weekend in a 1 brm unit, had stayed there many many years ago. Units are old but have been refurbished recently I think, toilet n shower are sort of outside, but are still part unit meaning a longish walk for an ordinary bladder. Everything worked very well and looked new. For the budget price very good value. It was dog friendly even though we didn't have a dog.

We previously visited the park two years ago so were looking forward to our return visit. Since our last stay new owners have taken over. We have a tent set up and the camping area has plenty of shade. The park was quiet for our four night stay with only about 4-5 campsites taken per night. The last time we stayed and at any other park we have stayed at the toilet/shower amenities are cleaned daily. There was NO cleaning here. Twice I asked at reception when the amenities would be cleaned and both times I got told the next morning however this never happened. The second time I told reception they went and emptied the overflowing bins. There were only three showers and toilets available to use as they had closed the others off and two of the female toilets had no toilet paper. Other then the lack of cleaning this is a great location and park. Unsure if we will return again with the lack of cleaning. For $38pn I shouldn't have to ask for the amenities to be cleaned.

I'm so sorry you had a negative experience.
When you spoke to the staff about the facilities they told you in good faith that the facilities would be cleaned the next day. Unfortunately the cleaner became ill and wasn't in over the weekend or Monday.
Normally our facilities are immaculate as you will see in other reviews.
I do hope you come back in the future as the park is improving all the time with new plantings and refurbishments and I'm sure you will find the amenities spotless, as they generally are.

We enjoyed our Christmas stay at Dunk Island Caravan Park very much. The sites are a bit sunny and barren right now (due to cyclone) with lots of newly planted vegetation (it will be gorgeous in a few years' time!) but we lucked out with a lovely, private site way at the back of the park under some massive old trees. We enjoyed watching the wallabies in the schoolyard nearby and saw some amazing birds. The pool was a bit small and the water was a tad murky- still it was refreshing in the heat. Amenities were very clean and spacious. Highly recommended.

We arrived late in Mission Beach in our small van, which means 7.30pm so a few places were already closed and another pretty much told us to go away even though she had space because she didn't want to get up from the TV to check us in. Anyway. We eventually found Dunk Island view and the lady owner could not have been more friendly and welcoming. The facilities are very good and clean, there is free WiFi which actually works; an unusual treat for Australian campsites and hostels. The woman at the desk helped us find the supermarket and local restaurants as well as recommending places to visit in the Tablelands.

All in all we had an excellent experience at this friendly, well-run campsite.

Spent 3 nights in the 2 bedroom unit with our two children aged 3 and 8 months. We absolutely loved the spaciousness, the fact toilet and bathroom are separate, fully air conditioned, day and night blinds, plenty of cupboard space and privacy. We will definitely stay here again. Service friendly, helpful and professional. Shop to reception offers cooked food, coffee, cake, icecreams, crepes. I was even surprised they take the time to heat the pies on order and then place under the griller to give a nice crispy crust.
Although we have amenities in our unit, I did check out the amenities block including the laundry - very clean! The only downside and I can see that the last two major cyclone would have been the causes - the park needs more of a holiday feel to it. Bare and felt deserted however you can see that the owners are working on that. Pool and camp kitchen are nice relaxing areas and offer space and shade. Overall, great place to stay and we will definitely stay here again.

We have been twice now, once with the old owners and once with the new. The new owners are really trying to bring the caravan park back to where it once was. They toilets and showers are recently renovated ans always clean and tidy.
The sites are well spaced and it doesn't make you feel as if you are camping in the next doors camp!
Being pet friendly is very important to us and our dogs have always been made welcome. Prices are good and we will certainly be making another visit soon.
