Decided that morning to take the 9:30 am ride. We opted for the Vista Dome seats and ended up spending most of our time in the open air car enjoying the breeze and views. Choose the Vista Dome seats if 1) the weather is too hot or cold to be outside for an extended period of time --OR-- 2) you cannot stand for long periods of time Otherwise, get coach tickets...you'll spend so much time outside anyway. My husband made a comment, "You just can't see this anywhere else." He is right. The ride allows you to really look around. It is 12 miles out and 12 miles back in on the same track. They stop the train and it simply reverses and backs into town. The views are just as spectacular both times. The train runs right along with the river. We got to watch the rafters. We did order some breakfast first thing upon boarding and I have to say it was excellent food. There was only one place we could see damage from the recent fires. We were so glad that we decided to take the train. It was our favorite part of our trip.
