We arrived at 745 AM and were seated immediately. Although they were short handed and very apologetic, the service was as fast and efficient (better than you might expect at a typical Denney’s). The food also arrived quickly and was hot (better than Denney’s). My coffee cup was never even near empty as wait staff was very attentive. We didn’t poke our head in the kitchen but everything we saw was extremely clean.
The menu was limited to about 15 items, but in my opinion it is better to have fresh food cooked well than 150 options of which some are going to be misses because the cook staff has never made or tasted the dish before. We tried the green chili omelets and a breakfast croissant with ham and cheese. The omelet was far larger than the 2 eggs as advertised (white water rafters take note: you shouldn’t be hungry at lunch if you have one of these for breakfast). The eggs were organic according to the wait staff. The eggs were slightly browned on the outside and cooked thoroughly which I prefer to the less cooked eggs in the classic French omelet. The green chili was very mild. The omelet was loaded with rather mild cheddar cheese (I would have preferred a sharper cheese but given the mild chili it worked). We ordered wheat toast which was typical store bought and accompanied by various individual packages of toppings. The coffee was a bit thin but was good. I would have liked salsa or hot sauces in addition to Tabasco for my eggs.
The Rise and Shine also sells donuts (which is ironic since it also the meeting location for the local Weight Watchers meetings) but we did not try them.
