The Rio Celeste was a perfect location for the beginning of our honeymoon. From the perfectly designed rooms and the superb service to the equisite food and relaxing atmosphere, we were in heaven. We look forward to returning to this very special location.

Three of us just got back from our trip to Costa Rica, we are so happy that we decided to go to the Rio Celeste Hotel in the jungle instead of staying on either coast, it really gave us the true flavor of Costa Rica! The hotel is magnificient! Rooms are VERY spacious and the bathroom space is wonderful expecially considering there were 3 ladies getting ready.. so the double sinks came in handy and the out door shower added to the experience ! The staff at the hotel is ever ready to help you with whatever you want or need. Be sure to take the guided walk one day to the Waterfall and the river rafting trip those are a must. Our massages were some of the best we have ever had. We were there for 7 nights so we had meals there almost every day, the chef is great all of our meals were tasty and visually delightful! We will return and also recomend it highly to ANYONE who is looking for a relaxing get away with luxury to boot!

This was the 3rd and favorite hotel of our trip. It's a tough road to climb but once you're there you can put the car away and just forget out the rush of life. We were greeted by name and with hot towels and orange juice. It was the end of the rainy season so at one point we were the only people at the resort. It's not a hotel, it's a bunch of private houses right in the middle of the rain forest. Our favorite part was the outdoor shower, very romantic, and sitting on the couch listening to the sounds of the rain forest. It was all the noise we wanted after planning a huge wedding. We sat in the hot tub each night sipping on wine taking in the stars. There is hardly any light pollution so you get an amazing experience. The rain at night was so soothing. It was nice to walk to a national park one mile away and do a great 3 hour hike that ended in hot springs. You must love nature to stay here. It's naturally romantic and I cried leaving because of it's beauty and the wonderful service.

This was our favorite hotel of the 5 places we stayed during our three-week honeymoon in Costa Rica. The setting was exquisite, with the rainforest right outside our casita--from the balcony we had our only sighting of a spider monkey on the whole trip! At night we were serenaded by a frog chorus. The bedroom was gorgeous, with minute attention to detail for comfort and beauty. I especially loved the choice of outdoor shower in a walled courtyard with masses of flowering ginger, or an indoor shower with jacuzzi tub.

Speaking of jacuzzis, the hot tubs by the pool were incredibly relaxing after the day's hike to the Rio Celeste waterfall (which was heart-stoppingly gorgeous). They even had--a decadent little touch--tables IN the hot tub to set your poolside drink.

We took it pretty easy while we were here. The Rio Celeste hike was the only activity we did, but for more adventurous tastes they also offer horseback riding, ziplining, a multi-day trek to the Volcan Tenorio, and more.

The food was some of the best we had on the whole trip, ranging from traditional to fusion cuisine. Our hosts were supremely attentive and gracious, offering an impromptu slideshow after dinner of the local scenery and wildlife, including the dazzling gold beetle.

A vehicle with all-wheel drive is highly recommended. We made the trip in a friend's 2-wheel drive and we did get there (and back to San Jose), but the rocky roads were very rough on the car.

Overall, the Rio Celeste Hideaway was the perfect blend of luxury accomodations in a remote natural setting, with the breathtaking beauty of the Rio Celeste an easy hike away. We will cherish our memories of this unique retreat and hope to come again someday.

Stayed for 3 nights, arriving on 25 December. Hugely spacious, tastefully decorated and comfy individual rooms/casitas. Beautiful pool. Really got blown away by the Rio Celeste waterfall which was about a 1.5 hr muddy hike away. Back to the beautiful spa by the pool for a icy beer, followed by dinner at the restaurant. Unfortunately for us, the weather wasn't great, being wet and cold (even for an Irishman). It is quite high up in the hills. We saw spider monkeys and howler monkeys, hummingbirds, woodpeckers and Toucans on our walk. Service was very good, the staff very chatty and friendly. The only minor complaint was that your dinner plate would be removed almost before you finished your meal. I think they were trying a little too hard to please and I did find it irritating. Great spot for romantic getaway.

Our family loved the Rio Celeste Hideaway Hotel. I can only describe it as a lodge which is truly a hideaway, with service that was absolutely wonderful. Our daughter plans destination weddings in Costa Rica, so we had the goal of finding beautiful places for wedding couples. The Rio Celeste certainly fell into the category of "beautiful", but the individual service and attention to comfort was also wonderful. As an extra, we thought that the food that they prepare in this faraway and outback site was the terrific and very reasonable. We had some adventures in trying to find the route to the hideaway, and even though we had moments of wondering if we were on the correct route, it was worth the journey to find such a marvelous accommodation. I hope others will be able to find this hotel and enjoy the Rio Celeste Hideaway as we did!
