True meaning to the above mentioned titled quote. No complaints at all from arrival to departure at the resort. The staff is amazing and the rooms are placed in pure paradise. The perfect stay for a romantic styled getaway! Tip: If looking for a true Costa Rican home cooked meal just down the bumpy road from the resort is a family owned restaurant that serves you right out of their home in a covered outdoor seating area-the resort staff members at the front desk directed us and there is where we dinned for cheap while our plates were pretty hearty during our late night returns from full day excursions.

My husband and I went here for our honeymoon and had a wonderful time! Our room was a private bungalow set back in the rain forest. It was better than we anticipated. We were serenaded to sleep each night by the sound of the rainforests creatures which could not make for a better back ground noise. The food in the restaurant was also amazing! The service staff was very professional which of course always enhances any experience. Food was kind of expensive, but was worth the money. Seeing the astonishing River Celeste at Tenorio National Park was just an added benefit to the two day stay at Rio Celeste Hideaway ;)

This special place is by far the best hotel I stayed at in Costa Rica. The staff was extremely friendly, the room was huge and private and had an outdoor shower (indoor as well). We opted for the cheaper version, path/garden view “Casita Forest” rather than the rainforest view “Casita Suite”, and was amazed how private it was. Each room is its own building so we could never hear anyone else. When we arrived we went down to the river for a swim and did not want to leave. The path to the river is a well-kept trail, if you are careful and really comfortable in flip flops you can wear them (photo included of path). At reception they had said there were towels by the river but they were all gone by the time we got there. It seems this happens often so bring your own just in case. Some people posted that the food was expensive but I did not find it any different from home ($15-$25 approximately for mains). I had the seared tuna which could of feed both of us and was absolutely delicious! Breakfast was included with the room and had a choice of a Costa Rican dish (bean and rice) or American dish (with eggs and bacon). While sitting in the hot tub we saw toucans and a bunch of other birds fly by. Bring a sweater because it can get cool at night. It truly was a magical place for me.

The road to the hotel is extremely bumping so you need a vehicle that is high off the ground. From Bijagua the 12 km road takes around 15-20 min to get there. The sign for the road for the hotel is pretty much within the town. Look for the signs in the pictures below. The hotel website has pretty good directions on how to get there. If you find a map of the area note that the pedestrian bridge is now accessible by car. There is nothing else around except Tenoria National Park so make sure to check distances before booking other excursions from the hotel.

Room Tip: I asked for a more private room and they delivered (Room 26) but they all seemed like great rooms.

My husband and I fell in love with this area of Costa Rica in 2013, so when planning a second trip, I couldn't pass up the Rio Celeste Hideaway. As all the reviews you have probably read, the road to get here is less than some may desire, but I find it to be part of the charm. They have been making improvements to the drainage and grading, but I hope they never pave the road. If you are renting a car (TriColor provides great rates and service) make it a 4x4! With only 26 rooms, the Rio Celeste provides an atmosphere of untouched beauty which can be difficult to find! I love that there are never many people at the pool, in the restaurants or anywhere!

Once again, the staff was great, they had our room ready and waiting as soon as we arrived. Everyone is friendly and accommodating, and are always looking to make sure your stay is memorable.

Now for the food... we were pleased to learn the Hotel has really stepped up the menu! They have added a lot of additional meals, and the prices are quite reasonable ($15-$30/meal). Kudos to the chef who quickly turned out perfectly cooked steak, creative sauces and delectable sides.

There is not too much more to say about the Rio Celeste Hideaway. It is isolated, so if you are looking for a booming nightlife, this might not be the right pick for you. But if you are interested in true relaxation, quiet spaces and a glimpse of the beauty Costa Rica has to offer, make this a stop on your trip!

Room Tip: All rooms have balconies, but some face inward. While the fauna provides a privacy, the rooms facin...

We stayed here 2 nights at the end of March. The drive was rough - dirt rocky road but worth it! Very bumpy. A GPS is a must since the hotel is literally hidden in the beautiful rainforest.

The staff is very friendly and accommodating. They booked all of our excursions. We hiked to rio celeste waterfall with a guide and went horseback riding. I had no cell reception and the front desk offered me a free phone call home USA. Wifi only available in the lobby area.

Our room was clean and comfortable. It smelled a bit humid, but because it rains so much. I slept really comfortable to the sound of rain. Food is a little pricey, wish they had more choices for authentic dishes. The property is beautiful and well maintained. We will definitely be returning soon!

Had a wonderful stay with my family in this off the beaten path resort. Great customer service, spent time at the pool and hiking on the property's own trail to Rio Celeste. The villa itself was spacious and the outdoor shower was a nice touch. The front desk was able to arrange some fun tours in the area for us, kayaking Rio Frio and hiking with a guide in the Tenorio volcano national park. Would definitely return again.

Rio Celeste Hideaway is a slice of rainforest heaven--lovely design featuring natural materials and giant rooms. It's very escapist and would also make a great romantic getaway. You really feel like you're in the middle of the forest, and you are--the terraces outside the rooms literally open into thick rainforest, and you almost expect a monkey or toucan to pop out at any moment. Be forewarned that the drive to get there is on the difficult side--15 miles up an unpaved road that has some pretty rough spots. Once you're there, however, just settle in and enjoy it! And save time to see Rio Celeste--it's quite special. Great spa as well--fantastic atmosphere. Really loved the place, and service was extremely friendly!
