My first time spending a night in a yurt, which was warm and comfy. We didn't know there is a certain time for check-in and arrived super late during the night, and surprisingly, the owner waited for us for many hours, and then gave us the key, and provided us a brief overview of the campground- I was impressed with customer service.
The bathrooms were clean, and showers were coin operated to save water, which worked out well for me.

Great place to camp outside Buena Vista. The owners were friendly and welcoming. We stayed in the cabin my husband only used the front room queen size bed and there was a seperate little back room with four bunk beds. There was also a loft above accessible with a ladder with a big bed and a nice ceiling fan. The bed was so comfortable and a queen size. We brought our own comforter and sheets and pillow and slept great! I was amazed at how quiet inside the cabin was and well insulated couldn't hear much outside noise at all. Each cabin has a wonderful porch and chairs and table. There is also a fire pit and a picnic table which is a delight. The cabin was one of the cleanest we had experienced. We attended a Westfest Rally for our motorcycle club and the pavillion and service was wonderful. It was a short walk to the bathroom and toilets but I never had to wait although the campground was almost full. It was quiet and beautiful view from the tent campgrounds which friends stayed at which were awesome and had great views and trees and sites. Thank you Arrowhead Point! We will be back and had a great time! Your coffee and service in your shop was good and we loved the Americanos!

We stayed one night at the yurt, which is the coolest thing ever - it's inspired by those large Mongolian tents, but actually it's a very luxurious cabin with electricity, fan, fridge, queen sized bed and a bunk bed. The bathrooms were also very clean and the shop well stocked. It's very conveniently located off the highway, 5 minutes away from Buena Vista if you want food and civilization, near all the water rafting places, and points of attraction.

The real big plus for Arrowhead is the great service. We arrived very late around 9pm - even though the store close early on, the lady in charge actually waited for us for hours to make sure that when we arrived, we could find our yurt alright and get acquainted with the campground. I also left my glasses at the campsite, and the person in charge was so nice in mailing my glasses for me.

The other great bonus was that we stayed during a clear night, and looking up to see the Milky Way and the galaxies of stars twinkling down at your was amazing.

Thanks for an awesome stay!

Room Tip: The yurts are really cool

In July took the kids and grandkids camping here. Rented two cabins and the Yurt. All accomidations were great. Campground hosts were helpful and knowledgeable of the area. Campground bathrooms were some of the cleanest we have ever seen. Would recommend the location to anyone.

Our family of 5 decided to stay here for a week. I booked a week online and even called to confirm that we bringing a 12' enclosed trailer that contains all of our camp gear. I was told that they had plenty of space with plenty of shade for tent camping. We arrived after spending 2 days at Sugar Bush Campground in Howard, Co.(We should have stayed in Howard.) When we arrived at Arrowhead, we were told that they didn't have room for our trailer in our site. We looked around the campsite and found a site that had 2 trees and was big enough for our tent and barely fit our 12' trailer. The sites do not have tent pads or offer any type of level ground. Each tent site is only about 20' X 25'. The next site is right next to you with no buffer. There is a wooded rail separating the sites. Our neighbor's tent was about 6 feet from ours. There is no defined quiet time established, so you end up getting no sleep. The place is also right next to the highway. If you plan on hearing the great outdoors, forget it. At night, you only hear very loud road noise or your neighbors drinking, cursing, and even snoring all night. One night, several young adults were extremely high and drunk, and were having very loud an explicit group sex right across from us. This was very disturbing as we were camping with young children. We reported the incident to the owner/manager. The owner just laughed it off and made a comment about her missing out on the fun. I was horrified and we checked out the next morning. This is not a place for families.

There are no amenities at this place. The swimming pool has been filled in with gravel and has a patio fire pit with a few lawn chairs that no one uses. The playground is like something that you would find in some abandoned project. The sand boxes has moss growing in them and the swing set and wooden play structure are about 30 years old.

Nothing at this place justifies paying $45.00 per night, plus taxes, for a tent site with no power or water. Additionally, you have to pay for a shower even when you are paying to stay at this facility. The additional $10.00 per day for us to take a daily shower was ridiculous. If you went rafting or exploring during the day and needed another shower in the evening, you had to pay again. They tried to tell us that they charge for showers because they are under water restrictions. No amount of water restrictions are intended for us to be deprived sanitary conditions. It just another way for the owners to profit from hidden charges. They are coin operated and you don't get a warning when the water is about to go off. It just goes off when you still have soap in your hair, and you have to step out to feed it more coins.

If you plan on taking a shower or even needed to use the toilet, get ready to wait 15 minutes or more to use the facilities. Try telling your kids to hold it a little longer. They only have 3 single unisex toilet/showers and 1 restroom with 2 toilets/showers. They do have an on site store. A cup of coffee is $5.00. A small bag of ice is $4.50. I hate to leave negative review, but I had really high hopes of having a wonderful camping experience with my family. It did not happen here. This place is truly disappointing.

We did have a great time in the Buena Visa and Salida area. We hired a guide and took 4 wheelers across Marshalls Pass. Marshalls Pass is a national forest and you can find some wonderful areas to camp for free and not worry about what your children will be exposed to. You can go into town and shower at the city pool or just bath in the streams and rivers if you don't mind the cold water. Mount Princeton is a must see also.

If you are looking for a campground in town with great facilities, check into Sugar Bush campground in Howard, Co. The owner is very friendly and accommodating. They have a shallow cold water spring that flows right through the tent area which is very soothing. The best part is that they give you a key to the showers when you check in, and they DON'T charge you for a shower. The place really clean.

Room Tip: Don't waist your money here!

For openers, I can't make sense of dgdtexas' review. The tent sites at Arrowhead point are above the RV part of the facility on a hill completely separated from the rest of the place. We were there a day later and what we saw was not the same as he reported.

Whether other tent sites are close or not is subjective, but as RV parks go the tent sites were great. They were set up much as forest service sites are, with a picnic table and flat areas for the tents. We put up 3 tents in our site and were not crowded.

And trees? Compared to other commercial RV places I have used this was great. True, the trees were of the short juniper persuasion, but there were lots of them and they separated the campsites nicely. If the place were full you would have lots of company, but hey, this is an RV park. You don't get an acre to yourself.

Upside: The tent area is well separated from the rest of the park and, being on a hill you hardly hear any highway noise. Also, being on the hill top you are looking at mountain peaks 360 degrees around you. The staff is friendly and helpful. The rate for a site is the same as other area parks charge for tent sites that are not nearly as nice. The park is located 5 miles outside Buena Vista, so you are not surrounded by the hustle and bustle in town. And NO TRAIN TRACK. Yeah, you know what that means if you have used RV parks much.

Downside: There were clean, nice portable potties in the tent area, but the real restrooms are a short walk downhill. More of a walk than you are going to want to make multiple times. Once a day for a shower and such is OK, but you will want to use the portable units most of the time. And the showers are coin operated. Personal opinion, I dislike the things. Theirs are not expensive. Maybe 75 cents for a shower. It's just the principle of the thing with me.

Room Tip: Some sites would really only be suitable for a single tent, while others have more usable space. Ju...
