The homemade soups here are fantastic and a meal by themselves. But the sandwiches are too good to pass up. Make sure you save room for the fabulous pies. An everfull cup of coffee and great prices make this a must stop.

There may be places in Buena Vista that do one specific dish better than Jan's, but for quality and value in a large selection of dishes covering every meal, this place can't be topped. Friendly servers only add to the experience. As several other reviews have noted, you go to Jan's for the food not the atmosphere, although there was really never anything wrong with your mom's kitchen table was there?

Best breakfast and friendly servers who check on you to make sure you having a great time. You do not go for ambiance just good food.

Fantastic food for as long as I have been going to Buena Vista. A very dear friend own this restaurant for about 10 years in the 80's and the food has always been great. Traveling through Buena Vista, Jan's was recommended by the gas station we stopped at. Grilled cheese sandwich, blt sandwich, fries, garden salad, iced tea.....all good. The rhubarb and strawberry pie was quite a treat!! The place was comfortable inside and the waitress was very nice. Everyone seemed to know everyone there.
