We selected Noah's Ark Whitewater Rafting (NAWR) based on the high tripadvisor rating. We opted for a half day trip, and while we had an enjoyable time on the water, it certainly wasn't a 5 star trip.

First, here's the good:
* safety: I believe safety was important to everyone at NAWR.
* staff: the staff tried to make this an enjoyable experience for everyone.
* the river: great, but this isn't unique to NAWR.

Now for missed opportunities:
* We visited NAWR during a high flow time, so our 2 to 3 hour adventure took 1 hour 23 minutes.
* NAWR was not worried about efficiently getting us into the water. After checking in at 8:00am it took 2 hours and 7 minutes to get into the river. A lot of this time was spent standing in direct sunlight. At least have your safety talks and wait time in the shade.
* After getting strapped uncomfortably tightly into PFDs, we spent 15 minutes STANDING.
* With this much waiting, water should have been provided. Or--at the least--freely available.
* After getting out of the water, we again waited while NAWR's staff deflated and loaded boats onto a trailer. This time, some of us were cold from the water!
* Returning to the outfitter's site, NAWR asked that we help the guides hang and sort rental gear. When we got to the correct place, no guides were to be found. This was, to say the least, annoying. We did our best to do what they had asked, but didn't sweat the details...
* during the trip, the guides pointed out interesting rock formations. I'd have preferred history of the river, ecology, almost anything.
* On the bus ride back, the staff tried to entertain us with comedy. It did not work for me.

A comment regarding cost: basic cost does NOT include wet suits, boots, or splash jackets. When you cost compare, keep this in mind.

In hindsight, I think we could have had a better experience with a smaller outfitter for the same cost.

In summary, NAWR got the big details of safety and river correct. For that they earn 3 stars (almost anyone can provide this opportunity just following the state's guidelines). For making me stand around for 2 hours with children, they lose one off them.

To earn 5 stars, they needed to pay attention to the details. In the future, I will NOT use or recommend NAWR.

Our apologies for the inconveniences experienced on your recent trip with Noahs Ark. Thanks for bringing to our attention areas where we can improve our trip quality. Overall guest satisfaction is viewed as equal to our attention to trip safety. We have adjusted our Browns Canyon website trip description to more clearly describe the impact of water levels on the overall (on water) trip timing. We recognize that there are many variables which impact the timing of launching our trips as well, including factors beyond our control like the arrival time of other guests. We are performing a full review in these areas and will continue to seek to provide the best and most informative trip experience.

We rely upon the comments of our guests to help us make our trips the best possible. I would like to invite you back as our guest and would personally encourage you to contact me to experience the type of trip that we are truly capable of providing. All the best in your future travels and hope to see back in Colorado in the near future.

Just an excellent experience. People that really care, use your first name, and make the entire experience just awesome. Our son was too young 6 years ago when we were through Buena Vista, so we did a "float trip" with another company. We wanted to get back so we could go with Noah's Ark - we weren't disappointed!

We drove an hour and a half to get to Noah's Ark from Breckenridge. Even though they had been suggested by a friend, I still questioned whether or not this would be worth the drive, worth the money and worth the time. Thankfully the answer was yes, it was worth it all. Everyone there was really nice, helpful and kind. Our guide Dan, took into account that I was a novice and a little weary of the water adventure. While my husband and older daughter had white water rafted before, it was a first for me and our 10 year old daughter.
Dan explained every rapid before we got to it and what to expect. He also pointed out different things along the canyon wall of interest.

i will say, it was rainy and cold when we got on the water. We were grateful that we had rented all the extras - booties, wet suit, splash jacket, etc. Which also helped us enjoy the trip.

When we finished our trip, we rode an old Blue Bird school bus back to the starting point but not before being entertained by one of the guides with a far fetched and creative story about the bus trip.

I'd certainly do this again and will consider them for another adventure in the future as they also offer hiking and llama trips to name a few.

We (two families with teens) did the Brown's Canyon Full Day tour and had a blast. Our guides, John and Kyle, were outstanding -- knowing which rapids to challenge us with and which to stay clear of. The lunch was also excellent. Take their advice and rent the wetsuits, the Arkansas River is a snow-melt river and cold.

Clean facilities, rentals in good condition, reasonable prices. What made it unforgettable were the staff, they were so friendly, eased our nervousness about our first experience, and put us at ease. We had no mishaps, no one fell out of the raft, and we all got wet, which is what we came for! The canyon was gorgeous! Even though we didn't have waterproof cameras to capture it all, the experience was unforgettable. Best of all we were able to take hot showers after we got back!
