The main draw for this restaurant at Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport (formerly Jeffco Airport) is the view. Food is pretty average American fare, but the windows (and there are a lot of them) overlook flight operations at the airport with the front range of the Rocky Mountains as a backdrop. Service is friendly but not great, had mistakes made on orders a few times and once had a problem getting the bill split up properly when some people in the party were paying cash and others used credit cards.

I decided to go to the Runway Grill after receiving recommendations from others, but those recommendations clearly were based on their lunch menu, as their dinner menu lacked the recommended whimsical selections like the "Piper Club" and "Skyhawk Chicken Sandwich" and instead features more upscale selections like Fajitas, Fettuccine Alfredo and the B-52 Burrito.

My soup, a Cream of Chicken, was nicely tasty but not over-salted, a rarity among restaurants like this. Likewise my Fettuccine Alfredo was excellent - not too garlicky but just right, with the added chicken breast quite flavorful as well.

However my girlfriend's burrito had to be scraped of almost all sauce to be edible. The sauce had nice kick, as you would expect from a Mexican dish, but its main component was apparently salt - by the pound.

This could have been the result of a late night pot of sauce that's been on simmer too long, or the restaurant short cut of making up for flavor by adding (yet) more salt, but either way it was disappointing.

On the other hand, the view was lovely - though you have to be an aviation fan (why would you be going to a general aviation terminal restaurant if you weren't). A nice aviation-themed decor with maps as decoration on many of the tables complimented the food well.

All in all it was a pleasurable experience, but it would be nice if they toned down the salt a bit.

The Runway Grill is a great place to sit back and relax, the staff is always very pleasant. It is especially fun when you get to see the planes take off and land, they also have special events at the airport too. Food items are a little limited however, we have always enjoy our meal.

This is our second time at this place (and whatever its predecessor was ~12 years ago), both times for lunch on a Saturday. The previous time we (including our then ~5-y.o. son) liked the views of the Front Range, the open spaces on the west side of Broomfield, and views of airport operations [the restaurant is located at the 3rd largest airport in the metro Denver area]), but thought the mildly overpriced and nothing-extraordinary menu and ambiance wasn't geared to us (especially as the view from our deck is nicer and we can cook better to our taste). Years later the views may have improved, but the menu and pricing brought back memories of the previous visit. I had a reuben which came with the sauce on the side and the bread more toasted than skillet-grilled [to me both of these make a big non-greasy plus]. The choice of sides is limited (fries, chips, cole slaw, or cottage cheese). I somewhat reluctantly chose the cole slaw as an alternative to a mound of greasy fries or chips or a blob of bland cottage cheese. The cole slaw was OK but I would have preferred a salad or other veggie feature (which was not on the menu aside from extra-cost sides). The other two orders were a BLT (which we would never order in a restaurant, but the person ordering felt boxed in by the choices available..) and fettuccini Alfredo (which came with garlic bread but no salad/veggies). We all took longer than necessary to decide what to order, due to the limited choices of mains and sides. The dining room was relatively well patronized, and several patrons were enjoying the sunny balcony on a warm and sunny autumn day. Despite the crowd, service was prompt, cheerful, and reasonably attentive.
