Of the several good public recreation centers in Metro Denver, there are arguably three stellar ones in the northwest. Arvada and Westminster have the other two, but Broomfield's is the newest of the three. Excellent swimming, fitness, and other facilities including an indoor track. Perhaps the feature that makes Broomfield's stand out is its location in a corner of the complex anchored by the Broomfield County Commons. That adds over a square kilometer of trails, sports fields, and open space for fitness and recreation. The County Commons and connected trails system means that access by walking and bike is excellent. Perhaps the only weakness of the facility is in poor public transport access.
