We always enjoy a Segway ride when we can locate one and this one was a fun one too. The web site touts the historical aspect of the tour but we really received very little info on history for downtown Denver. I know it totally depends on the guides knowledge and enthusiasm for history and ours just didn't seem to have much. Not that our guide was unfriendly or unprofessional he just wasn't particularly knowledgeable or else didn't take the time to tell more. In any case it was a fun ride and worth the money though we wished for more history info along the way.
I booked a Historic Denver tour with Colorado Adventure Segway Day Tours and took my friend Melissa with me. Larry Reynolds gave us a thorough safety briefing and a lesson on how to ride the Segway, then turned us loose in a parking lot to practice. Once we were comfortable, off we went!
It was hard not to wear a great big smile while we rode through parks, over bridges, through the Convention Center and LoDo and finally, along the South Platte River. Larry was very knowledgeable about the history, the art, and great places to eat. Although I'd lived in Colorado nearly 20 years, I learned plenty! It's clear that he loves the area, because he has spent a lot of time researching the stories and details about historic Denver. By the end of the tour, I had a whole new list of places to come back and visit.
I highly recommend this tour for vacationers and locals alike. Riding on the Segway is a great way to see downtown Denver because a bike or car is too fast, and if you just walked, you couldn't see as many places. A Segway lets you travel in areas that cars can't get to.
Kudos to Larry and his family who have built this business for a number of years now. What a great activity!
