“A great stay at Aloft Broomfield”
Reviewed August 3, 2013

This was my first time staying at Aloft. I stayed for two nights. I had an excellent stay at Aloft Broomfield. The room was very clean, and accommodations were excellent including free shuttle service to near by businesses, salt swimming pool (saline) that was 89 degrees warm, fitness center that had both cardio, free weights and nautilus equipment. Free bottled water in the room along with refrigerator were helpful also. The front desk staff was very accommodating including Marc, Diana - assistant general manager, and Devin, the housemen. Breakfast was good also and allowed for flexibility in choice. I would definitely recommend this property and will stay at Aloft for future trips. Thanks for a wonderful stay.

Green Features: Recycling baskets in the room encouraging recycling, shared transportation by a free shuttle service, towel and sheet reuse program to not have linens changed daily

Unique Ikea inspired rooms. Good bathroom space with shower only, but the shower is large. How often does anyone have a bath in a hotel tub anyway. Beds are firm and not the same as found in Sheraton and Westin of the same Starwood group. Firm but still a good nights rest. The rooms feel large as space is well used and there a lots of places to put your things! In room refigerator is great for families!
Location is a little bit out of the way but the great lobby with free pool table and board games makes a great place to unwind with kids. The pool is nice with good large lounging chairs. It appears the hotel allows swimming lessons during the day. This is not a great feature as it is not very quiet for relaxing and your own kids will have to navigate around the lessons...the pool is not huge. Evens and early mornings are fine for the pool though.
Onsite food and refreshements are available with free coffee in the morning. Nice touch at reasonable prices.
Free wi-fi in the whole hotel. Thank you!
Having a guest laundry on the fifth floor is a nice touch for traveling families as well. Free parking is always a bonus too!
The area is a little bit sparse and is being newly developed. There are a pizza place, TCBY and Mrs. Fields within one block. Outside of that be prepared to drive. Pizza delivery seems to be a popular choice for dining.

Room Tip: Rooms on the second floor facing east look out over the buildings pool roof with air conditioning un...

Stayed here 3 nights in June. The hotel is nice and clean. I guess I don't like the concept of this hotel line. Trying to be European style hotel ( almost a retro type property ) small rooms, minimum furniture etc. good location as far as close to both Denver and Boulder. The area around hotel is still being developed and is sort of ugly around it. If this does not matter to you than it is ok. Just was not crazy about it. The staff was nice and it was clean and new. Just too small of rooms and don't like the theme of the hotel.

We really enjoyed our stay at this location in Oct. 2012, so decided to stay again in July 2013. Still many things to like: great room layout and amenities, nice pool/fitness/common areas, free wi-fi, easy access to western edge of Denver.

We booked about a month in advance, and I'm a Starpoints member. When we arrived, the hotel was at 80% capacity with 4 different wedding parties -- but we weren't part of that. So when we checked in and visited our room, imagine our surprise to be right in-between screaming, squealing party guests - very rowdy already in the middle of the day! Knowing this would only be worse at midnight, we immediately went downstairs and asked for a room change. The young man at the front desk was very helpful and moved us right away.

Next to a loud group of teenage softball players. We had to call and complain twice that night to get these girls to stop screaming (what's with the screaming, people?) and observe more "inside voice" activity after 11pm. Again, we were told "so sorry, 80% capacity, should be better tomorrow".

But here's a tip: how about reserving a floor for travelers who are not part of such events so they can have some peace and quiet? 80% capacity means 20% of the hotel is either 1) still open or 2) under repair. Why not ask guests if they're with those events and if not, give them a pleasant, more secluded room - especially if they are loyalty program members, which means they didn't reserve on Priceline?

Another change is that a local group uses the hotel pool (which is saline, not chlorine, I believe - nice touch) to teach toddlers and young children to swim. Great community idea. However, there aren't any posted hours for these swim lessons, so if you're a guest and want to use the pool, you either have to share it with the lessons in session (and the instructors expect to use the full length of the pool) or wait until there's a window of opportunity.

On one day during our extended stay, the swim lessons lasted from 8am until 5pm, with only a slight break around lunch. Again, good idea, but there should be a little more courtesy extended to guests about 1) length of sessions 2) expectations sharing the pool (no one wants to get in the way of a baby learning how to swim) 3) provide more clear-cut hours of opportunity. After all, it's included in the price of the stay, and at $150 or so a night, there shouldn't be any question as to who has the first rights to the pool.

Green Features: Loved the option to receive additional Starpoints for choosing to opt-out of housekeeping services during the majority of our stay. Also liked the saline pool instead of chlorine.

Thank you posting your review. We apologize that your most recent stay didn't match your previous experience at The Aloft. We pride ourselves on being one of the top rated hotels in our area. In the summer months, we are often filled with various weddings and group events. We try our best to keep other guests away from those floors. We hope your next stay with us exceeds your expectations. We look forward to your next visit !

Very contemporary, but nice rooms and good beds. I would stay here again. The wireless internet was fast. The shower was good. The ultra modern decor is interesting. We slept well there.
Check in and check out were easy and efficient.

First visit to Aloft hotels. I was very happy. It was a friendly, kind, relaxing, pet accomidating hotel, first hotel I have ever seen that has Rock'em sock'em Robots in the lobby for the kids. GREAT VIEW of the Rocky Mountains. Very clean place. The price is right!

This hotel is almost brand new as is the entire area around it, which is very nice looking -- the kind of urbanesque (parking lots behind buildings) town square type design, but as of right now, much of the area seems to be unoccupied, and there's little sign of life around, especially at night. aloft's attempt at hipness works for the most part, sans a few puzzling things.

To start with the good. The outdoor lounging area with its fire pit and fun furniture looked inviting but it wasn't in use on the cool May night of my stay. The lobby area is modern and communal with furniture to fit ever occasion, whether it's drinks, dining, lounging around or having a little business meeting. The furniture and lighting take center stage so as not to notice the exposed steel ceiling. The front desk is pretty sleek as it's a round and completely open. At least the clerks aren't able to hide like they are at some hotels. The pantry, with the food that can be picked up then paid for at the front desk is cool, but not a good substitute for a complimentary breakfast that most such hotels would offer. And if aloft is going to try this hard to be Euro (they refer to the elevators as lifts...that's trying really hard!), they should offer the kind of amazing breakfast that the European hotels do.(note to Priceline users: Priceline Express Deals said this this hotel includes complimentary breakfast and it doesn't). Fortunately, I didn't need any ice during my stay, but those who do will likely be put off by the fact that guests must purchase bagged ice from the pantry (there are no ice machines). There is some free bottled water in the rooms, which is a nice touch.

The rooms are probably the best part of the hotel, which is as it should be. The layout is uncommon, but highly functional. The "long side" of the room is flip-flopped from the conventional layout, so as you're laying in bed, you're looking directly at the windows. A large television is mounted to the wall between two windows that have blinds. A desk is below one window (finally a smart place for a desk) and the HVAC unit below the other, with a shelf above it for luggage -- such practical use of space is the smart aspect of their attempt to be Euro (although central HVAC would be preferred). The closet/sink/bathroom/shower area runs a long narrow band the long width of the room behind the wall of the beds, with the shower at the far end of it. The shower is a large glass stall (nice/smart design) and one narrow floor-to-ceiling window is opaque and is right next to the far bed facing into the sleeping quarters, allowing natural light to penetrate the shower (again, smart). The design of the shower is nice, although the shampoo/conditioner is a combo deal that is in a dispenser. It might be environmentally-friendly and Euro, but it's not upscale or cool -- sorry aloft. The sink outside of the bathroom is a good idea and the area behind it (behind the other bed) with a narrow closet with faceout hangers (oddly covered with just a curtain), shelves with magazines and a coffee maker, round out the interesting features. In terms of furnishings, the bed mattresses sit on platforms instead of box springs. They're a little low, but comfortable otherwise. There's a cool analog alarm clock on the nightstand and on the desk is a power source that allows guests to conveniently input to the TV ... and speaking of the television, that was a complaint. I went to use it late at night to help put me to sleep and while there was sound, as I flipped through the channels, there was no video. I could hear the audio of each channel but could see nothing. I called the front desk and the helpful front desk attendant had hear this before and suggested that I turn the television off for 45 second and turn it back on. This worked! I had video, BUT the picture was only a small part (maybe 20%) of the screen. The front desk apologized and was willing to have me change rooms (not practical for me at this point), but had no other solution. About 15 minutes later, it seemed to fix itself.

Some other public areas and features are where the hotel falls flattest in attempts at coolness. There are two lifts (elevators for us Americans...and I wonder how many guests ask where the elevators are after the desk clerk tells that the lifts are right around the corner). Each lift has a curt British voice that gives a fun "going up" and "going down" audible. The appearance of them though is a big fail. gray pads that apartment complexes and such would hang in their elevators to protect the walls when tenants are moving furniture in and out, somehow serve as elevator decor. And the worst part of the lifts is their functionality. The two lifts oppose one another, and each one has its own button to call it (i.e., there's two up buttons in the lobby -- on on each side by each lift), so you can summon one or both lifts. In the lobby where there's a display indicating what floor each lift is on, that's practical, but on the other floors, not so much. On the other floors, unless you're in no hurry whatsoever (or just have a preference for one of the lifts), guests end up calling both elevators, having them work double duty to head to the same floor, making them less efficient and using more energy (so much for all of the little shampoo and conditioner bottles that they're saving). Other design fails are the mess of exposed vents with the fire alarm system attached that is visible upon exiting the lifts on each floor; and the cheap-looking fabric covers on fluorescent lighting in the hallways.

I've posted photos of many of the things mentioned in this review.

How many times did I say "lift?" I think enough to make me pretty hip. Despite trying...I'm not trying nearly as hard as this place did.

Green Features: Shampoo/conditioner combo dispenser in shower may be environmentally friendly, but it's not appealing, at all. Having each elevator/lift have it's own call button has most guests calling both and having them both often move needlessly, wasting power. Fail.
