“Everything in one place”
Reviewed November 29, 2009

We've stayed at Beaver Run more than once for both business and pleasure. You have everything you need under one roof. There's a spa (if you've never had a Watsu you haven't lived!) two pools- one indoor/outdoor- the other outdoor. Lots of hot tubs, a game room with miniature golf, a computer center if you forgot your laptop. (there is a charge for wifi in the room :( that's a bummer) There are multiple restaurants and bars on site as well. The rooms are all individually owned and there are a ton of different floor plans. We found out quickly that if you don't like your room they will move you. Some of the rooms are gorgeous, others are a little worn- so if you don't like your room a quick call to the front desk will almost always put things right. The one exception was when there was a big group there and they had no rooms to move us to. Some rooms have big spa tubs- some have two story windows! This place is huge and it takes a bit to learn your way around, but during ski season the lifts are just steps from your ski locker, during the summer there are hiking and biking trails right out the door. We love Breckenridge- it is just full of stuff to do year round!

The big plus to this resort is the location. Especially if you get a room with a view of the mountain. When you look out your window, the skiers are coming off the mountain right in front of you. It is very convenient to the chair lifts. Other than that, the rooms are a little worn and the staff is not friendly at all. There is a snack bar where the workers are so unfriendly they acted like they resented us being there. It does have a nice pool for the kids though. Overall, I would stay there if location and convenience is important to you. Go eat in town though.

I stayed at Beaver Run this past August and enjoyed its beautiful location on the mountain. The Resort offers everything you need. In fact, I enjoyed not having to leave it to go into town. However, there is a free shuttle to and from town which is available whenever you need it. I am very content to eat my week's meals at Spencer's Restaurant which has excellent food. There's an assortment of rooms and condominiums to chose from. I stayed in a studio with a jetted tub. It was nicely furnished and very clean. I found the staff at the Resort to be competent and professional such as in handling lines at check-in efficiently. There are the usual resort amenities such as indoor/outdoor pools, hot tubs, spas, a game arcade and, of course, on-site shopping. I definitely recommend Beaver Run especially if you like relaxing in one place for your vacation.

I went here for an educator conference and the facilites were great for all the classes . It is rather large and takes a while to figure out the garage and buildings. We had one meal during our stay and it was top notch. I stayed in the most budget room and it was sufficient. No fridge or microwave in my plain room. Beds were very soft if you like that. Nice towels and bathroom amenities. I disliked the long walk to the garage- the place was huge.
No business center you could use for internet. They had a small grocery store that was more like a convenience store prices. It was very pricey.

I would recommend this resort to any size group of all ages. My family and I went in a large group some with people ranging from small children to grandparents. The majority of the rooms are suite style, easily sharable by a family or group, with amazing views of the surrounding Rockies and the city of Breckenridge. While I could tell the resort was not built recently, the inside has definitely been updated and is beautiful and very clean. The kids enjoyed the indoor/outdoor pool and the large game room with mini-golf. While the adults enjoyed the newly built spa, multiple hot tubs, and surrounding hiking that can be done right next to the resort. There are several bars and restaurants in the resort that all have been redone in recent years and the food and service was fantastic. I stayed at this resort for several years now and would not go anywhere else in Breckenridge. The service here is great and the location cannot be beat. In the winter, you are right on the slope and it is truly ski-in-ski-out.

The resort has a great location, but is in major need of updating. We stayed in Building 4 and I was shocked at how old the room appeared - wallpaper, fixtures, a microwave that was at least 15 years old, etc. It's comfortable and clean but does not make you want to hang out there much. I used to live in Breck and think you can find much nicer properties for the price. If location is your primary concern and you won't be in the room much, it's fine.

But I disagree. Our room got stuffy during the afternoons, even with the window open and with the fan they provided.

Our room was a "junior suite" with a tiny but adequate kitchenette (galley style, between the bedroom & living area.

Overall, the room was a VERY awkward layout. The bedroom portion of the suite is immediately inside the door - this is weird in several ways, but mostly in that there is no buffer for the hallway sounds between the sleeping area & the halls. The closet was behind the door and awkward to get into. No dresser or chest of drawers.

Another awkwardness: the "spa tub" with shower. There is NO easy way to shower in this room. Did I say room? Yes. The tub is in its own room with glass walls (and blinds for privacy). The controls for the water/shower are inconveniently located OUTSIDE the shower curtain. It's also pretty precarious getting in and out of the shower because of the thickness of the platform & tub.

So, where's the sink? Across the bedroom, past the kitchenette. And the potty is in its own little room (with a very loud fan, but I'm glad there IS an exhaust fan).

The tiny galley kitchen (under-counter fridge, half-size dishwasher, two-burner stove, coffee pot, toaster, microwave) is nice, but the placement of a sofa table in the walkway made this area very tight. If we had stayed more than two nights, I'd have been rearranging the furniture. The kitchen is completely equipped: dishes, flatware, cook ware, coffee filters.

Living room was large, with a small dining table & 4 chairs. Antiquated television with a picture tube, but we watched very little TV so whatever. :)

The overall hotel is very 1980s in decor & style. Our room appeared updated, though, and the bed & linens were obviously fairly new.

Base Nine bar had no table service for drinks. Food at Spencer's was very good, as was the service.

Checkout was a nightmare. They only had one person at the front desk, and the line was half-way across the lobby but she called nobody to assist.

Another caveat: We had spent the entire week prior to our arrival at between 7000 and 8000 feet elevation, but that didn't help at this hotel, which is at 10,500ft elevation. I was literally gasping for air during the LONG LONG LONG walks from our room to the restaurant/bar/lobby.

I'm checking "yes" on the recommend to a friend because I wouldn't tell somebody NOT to stay here, but I'd investigate other options.
