Beaver Run Resort and Conference Center
Ranked #8 of 23 Hotels in Breckenridge
Reviewed April 22, 2012

This was our second stay at Beaver Run. This time we stayed in a 1 bedroom condo in Building 4. The view and location were great. Building 4 is truely ski in/ ski out. The ski locker room is about 20 steps from the slopes. You can then ski right down to the Beaver Run or Quicksilver lifts. The Beaver Run Base area were very close. The pool and hot tub for Building 4 were right next to the slopes as well. They were fine and heated to a comfortable temperature.

Now for the negatives. The resort is dated. Our condo had some upgrades (granite counter tops but older broken cabinets, newer stove) but was in need of a complete remodel. The sofa bed was not so great. The kids could sleep on it, I wouldn't recomend it for adults. Housekeeping comes by every day to empty the trash, make the beds, and change towels, but we frequently saw trash bags left overnight in the halls. Parking at building 4 is not so great. It is very convient if you get a spot, but then you don't want to give it up. The parking garage is quite a walk. The shower is very small and ours had mold growing in the grout. The room was very warm. We had the heat turned off and the sliding door cracked almost all the time. We used the town shuttle more this trip. Although the drivers were friendly, the service was slow. 1/2 wait was not uncomon for trips back from Main St. It was faster just to walk up the hill. Grand Timber seemed to have a lot more shuttles.

We stayed over Easter this year and the snow was not so great, but still had a great time. The skiing was best before 1pm. A couple of our favorite places are the Crepe Cart and horseback riding in Fairplay, CO at Platt Ranch.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the slopes, Building 4.

There is no doubt that the Beaver Run is older than the other ski in/ski out properties but it still has so many things to recommend it. Primarily it has location, location, location. The locker room is very close to the lifts giving easy and rapid access to all the peaks and ski areas. It is also the main base for Ski and Ride and so arranging guides and lessons is extremely easy and it is the only mountain base resort that is within easy walking distance of main street making the shuttle an option rather than a necessity.

Secondly where the building may be ageing the staff more than make up for it by being friendly, helpful and happy. Any problems are taken seriously, dealt with rapidly and handled in a way that leaves you feeling content and well served.

Our trip was organised by Janine Nathan from Select Ski and I cannot recommend her highly enough. If you want to discuss accommodation options, transport, ski passes, ski hire, plane tickets and any other peripheral of a North American holiday Janine will organise it all for you and our trip ran smoothly and without any hitches.

Room Tip: Two bedroom suites are large, fully equipped and not too far from the boot room

As other people have said, Beaver Run is not a modern resort by any means. The rooms are older, however, the bathrooms seemed somewhat updated, and the pool area/hot tub area was very nice (although full of screaming kids most of the night). The resort is huge and it takes a while to get used to the floor plan, and we had to take two elevators to get to our room. The resort is right on the slope, and you can conveniently get your skis from your locker and hit the slopes in a matter of minutes.
We walked to town for breakfast and dinner everyday, didn't bother taking the shuttle because it was only a 10-15 minute walk (we were definitely huffing and puffing from the altitude). Town had lots of restaurants to pick from and we had a good time walking around Main Street.
While we enjoyed the resort, and the close proximity to the slopes, I think I would stay in town next trip just to be closer to the activity. It is easier than I thought it would be to get on the slopes from town.
I think the resort is great for families, lots of stuff for kids to do, however, for younger people without kids, I think there are better places to stay.

My boyfriend and I spent the weekend at Beaver Run Resort while we attended the Breckenridge Beer Festival. We were within walking distance to the Beer Festival and fairly close to Downtown. Thankfully the weather was nice but even if it wasn't the resort offered a free shuttle that would take us down and pick us up from town. The room was nice but a little outdated. The tile in the bathtub was a brick red color and very dark. The tub was also so deep that I banged my knee and shin trying to get into the shower. We were in building 4 on the ground level. It did smell strongly of chlorine in the entrance since the pool was at the end of the hallway. We were super close to the ski lifts and it would have been great if we were going to go skiing. Another downfall was the lack of parking. For as many rooms as building 4 has there weren't nearly enough parking spots and we had to drive around for quite a while trying to find a spot. All in all it was a nice, relaxing weekend and I will choose to stay at Beaver Run again the next time I am in Breckenridge!

Incredibly convenvient place to stay in Breck near the base of Peak 9. The Beaver Run Express chairlift is 50 steps away, brief exhilarating walk to town or they will shuttle/pick you up anywhere in town. The pools and hot tubs were fantastic and the variety of on-site restaurants were delicious, fairly priced and convenient. Views, staff and studio condo were all A+! Pets were allowed and they had a big Easter Party for kids and a separate one for infants & toddlers. Loved this place!

Room Tip: Try to get a place in Bldg 4 that directly overlooks the slope and the Coppertop Bar

We had an appartment for 6 people right on the slope in Breckenride, which is a fabulous ski resort. We were in building 3 which is closest to everything.
Our ski locker was a 2 minute walk from the lift and we had no queues even in March.
The style of room is not modern but spacious and comfortable with a log fire. We had a nice kitchen. I swam in the pool every morning and we all enjoyed the new hot tubs after skiing. We had a car but it is a short walk into the village. We used the free shuttle one night. We dined in the complex a couple of nights and would recommend Spencers Restaurant. There is also a takeaway outlet selling soup, pizza etc.

This hotel is not the newest hotel in Breckenridge but it has the best location possible. Our room was very clean, comfortable and quiet. It is easy to walk to the village and they even offer free transportation if you don't feel like walking. It was our third stay at this hotel and we will certainly go back.
