I was quite surprised to read the initial review from a former patron regarding this hotel. Upon further examination of their assessment, however, it is clear that this castigating review was more personal than objective. I usually don't spend time reading and posting extensive online reviews, due to the aformentioned problem, but upon reading this harsh critique I felt obliged to offer a different, less emotional review.
I have stayed in the Hunt Placer Inn several times, and there are many compelling reasons to return to this quaint, mountain Inn. The Hunt Placer is a small(9 rooms), romantic Inn that has excellent individualized service and a tremendously convenient location(short walk) to both the town of Breckinridge and the ski area.
The Inn is also owned by two of the nicest people, Trip and Kelly Butler, that I have met since moving to Colorado 3 years ago. The managers were equally hospitable, very informative, and quite engaging. The managing couple were both well educated and well traveled, and they gave us several helpful tips regarding local restuarants, shopping, and mountain sports.
The breakfast at the Inn was fresh, innovative, and very good. You will find no beans on toast at this establishment! I have had five of the many breakfasts they serve, and each time the offerings were varied and creative, and the servings, especially the main course, were large. The configuration of the dining room also created an intimate setting conducive to meeting and visiting with other guests.
I would highly recommend this B&B as a destination for the long distance traveler, or for those looking for the perfect "getaway destination" that reside in the Denver/Colorado Springs Basin. It offers a true taste of a Colorado mountain town, and captures the spirit of the Western Bed and Breakfast experience.
