Our best Colorado (hiking) vacation ever, thanks to the beautiful home base we discovered in Pete's Cabin. Just below the continental divide, with the snowmelt rushing down the South Platte River merely a stone's throw from the front door. Perfectly relaxing and with easy access to Breck, Frisco, and other nearby attractions. Highly recommended!
We brought the whole family (8 of us) on a ski vacation up to Pete's Cabin and the Breckenridge area. This cabin is more of a home than a vacation rental - full of the small details that lets you know it is loved. There are three full bedrooms and we were surprised to find three beds in the loft as well! (One for each of the grandkids!) Beds were clean and comfortable - plenty of blankets, good pillows. Bathrooms were super clean with plenty of soft towels and washcloths. The kitchen was well stocked - plenty of plates, glasses, cups, silverware, cutting knives, utensils, pots, pans, appliances and even a great assortment of condiments & spices! There was wood waiting for us by the fireplace. The furnace worked great - we were never cold. And the water from the facets was cold and sweet! The owners are great to work with and we cannot wait to go back!
PROS: size, set-up, ease of finding and getting to the cabin, owner communication and information, lodge look throughout cabin, working fireplace, mountain views, nature right out your door, privacy, comfort and hominess of the cabin.
CONS: Nothing from the cabin itself, absolutely no complaints - however, the driveway is a bit steep. It was icy while we were there - we had no trouble, but if you aren't practiced in winter driving, it might be a bit daunting. There is a place to park below the house if desired. It is also about 25 - 30 minutes from the Breckenridge ski slopes - and if Hoosier Pass is icy it will take a bit longer - so plan accordingly.
This is one of the best home rentals we have ever used! Highly recommend!!
We stayed in Pete's Cabin in January 2018. The cabin is perfect! It feels rustic but with all the modern amenities. The views of the surrounding mountains are stunning! Beds are comfortable. The kitchen is fully stocked. Absolutely loved the wood burning fireplace. The only negative and this is being really nitpicky is that it would have been nice to park in the garage as it did snow overnight while we were staying but there isn't room as it is used for storage. Getting over Hoosier Pass to Breckenridge wasn't an issue as they keep Hwy 9 treated and plowed but honestly we didn't want to leave the cabin!
This cabin was absolutely perfect for our family vacation! Owners are wonderful! Loved the location, there is a river across the street and Hoosier Pass is just up the road. Lots of hiking opportunities nearby. There is an excellent Italian restaurant in FairPlay! Very happy with this trip, super sad it's over!
Thanks so much for allowing us to stay in your beautiful cabin. We loved it!
The cabin had everything we needed for cooking and entertaining ourselves. The beds were very comfortable. And the view was amazing! We explored the nearby reservoir and the mountain and creek in front of the cabin. We also hiked Hoosier Pass, Sawmill Creek and Sapphire Point.
It’s a great location with easy access to Breckenridge, but away from the traffic. We also visited the towns of Fairplay and Alma. The General Store in Alma was really handy. And the Italian restaurant in Fairplay, Millonzi’s, was very good.
We will definitely be back!
Our son and friends stayed at the cabin during spring break. The cabin is very clean and comfortable with all of the amenities of home. It is close to Breckinridge and the Loveland ski resort, so anything you want to do whether skiing, hiking or going to dinner is just a short drive. The owners were wonderful and we will never forget how accommodating they were. Thank you so very much for a wonderful spring break. Hope to be back every year!
