“Wanted to love it ..but just liked it..”
Reviewed March 3, 2008

We stayed at the Breckenridge Hyatt for a week from Feb 23 - March 1, 2008.
First the positives: location is great, walking distance to the ski lift and close to town. Rooms are nice, we were in a 2 bedroom suite. Master bedroom and bath were spacious, however the 2nd bedroom with 2 twin beds is tiny with little closet and drawer space. Living room w/kitchen was OK and comfortable with a gas fireplace and a plasma TV even though the living space is a little tight for more than 4 people. Loved the ski valet, great amenity.
The negatives: The whole place feels a little generic.
The front desk staff wasn't very friendly or welcoming, they would do what they had to but would not go out of their way to be helpful, in general the front desk seems a loosely run operation. There were either 5 people behind the counter talking to each other or nobody at all. At one point when I approached the desk, the one person there was reading a newspaper and she seemed bothered that I was interrupting.
Housekeeping is just OK. They did only what was absolutely necessary, in and out in the shortest possible amount of time. They would not empty the dishwasher for example, instead they would just run it again even though it was clean. Also, our 2nd bathroom toilet was slightly leaking and despite five phone calls it was never fixed, so we kept wrapping towels around the toilet.
After having spent a week at the Hyatt in Aspen the previous year, this property is definitely an entire class below.

I stayed here for a week on 10/13-10/20. I was pretty impressed by the place. First the positives:

The location was fantastic, everything was right at your doorstep. You wouldn't have to drive anywhere in the town. I beleive also that there is a lift right there to take you up to the mountain as well, although the slopes were not open yet so I can't say for sure. The TV's in the main rooms were nice 42" Samsung Plasma's. The patio's were spacious. The kitchen appliances seemed reletively new, and the countertops were granit tiled. There were plenty of dishes and glasses, and the dishwasher worked well.

There is 1 jacuzzi tub per 2 bedroom suite, and it worked very well, and had very powerful jets. The living room was not overly spacious, but gave room to move. The bedrooms were of decent size.

We recently had a wonderful 5-day stay at the Hyatt Main Street Station. Our 2-bedroom, 3-bath condo was beautiful, clean and definitely a great value. We loved the full-size kitchen, great view of the mountain, deck for people-watching, and incredibly convienent location. The furnishings were comfy and new. We traveled with our 2-year old, and she enjoyed how close we were to the "train" at Main Street. There are many good restaurants within walking distance (but what isn't within walking distance?). The location was perfect for the afternoons, when we had to hurry home for our child's naptime.

The staff at ResortQuest was very accomodating. The hairdryers in our 3 bedrooms weren't working, but they had a new hair dryer to us within 10 minutes of our phone call to them. Because these are condos, we didn't expect such a quick response. We were a little worried about the "every other day" trash and towel service, but we enjoyed having the extra privacy of a day with no service.

The workout area is small but nice. The pool, shared with the Marriott, could have been a little warmer, but it was nice to soak in the hot tubs. Overall, we loved our stay here!

The only reason this place isn't an excellent is because they don't have air condition in the rooms. While it does get cool in the evening and it is wonderful to have the windows open for the cool mountain air, it was too noisy being located down town to get any sleep with the windows open. So, we ended up just hot as we slept.

Other then that, I loved my stay here. It was a beautiful place with a great location in the town.

Stayed at the Hyatt May 8& 9. During off season. Not many people in town. The Hyatt was very nice. Had a nice fireplace & rooms were nicely decorated. The front desk was no help asking for a good place to eat. No help for much of anything. I guess they don't care if guests are visiting during the off season. But the hotel was very nice. Don't know if would stay here again.

We were a family of 6 with 2 small children. The hotel was great in seeing to our needs for cribs, toys and special bedding. The staff was very responsive to any request from changing a light bulb to arranging special transport to the supermarket (their own van) or to Keystone (a private service).
The rooms were clean, modern and comfortable. The proximity to the ski school, day care for the kids and the lift for the adults was almost as good as a real ski-in/ski-out. The walk was 3-5 minutes. Additionally, the ski & boot storage area was staffed with courteous and knowledgeable people. The conceirge was very helpful in answering questions and arranging dinner spots. The town is just down the street with lots of shops and restaurants within easy walking.
The only complaint is that the hot tubs were only luke warm and the steam room was not hot enough. All in all, my family liked Main Street and would recommend it to others.

We've just returned from a weeks stay at Main Street Station, and were blown away by our accomodation! We have stayed in many ski resorts across Europe, and in Aspen, but our condo at Main Street was by far the best.
As I understand it, Main Street is made of privately owned timeshare condos, which you can book to stay in. We booked through Thomson, Uk. We felt the price was really reasonable for the standard of the accomodation, as we have paid far more for far less in the past.
We had a one bedroom condo for four of us; two adults and two children. The children had a pull out sturdy sofa bed in the lounge area. Our condo had a lovely fire in the lounge, balcony, full kitchen with dishwasher, massive fridge / freezer with ice machine (you don't often get that in the UK!), coffee maker, oven, microwave, gas hob, all utensils, dishwasher / washing machine powder / washing up liquid, kitchen towels, cloth etc. Each floor also has a free washing machine and dryer, which never seemed to be in use! The bathroom was HUGE with two sinks, walk in shower and the biggest bath my boyfriend had ever been in - he could lie in it without touching the end, but it took about 30 minutes to fill! Our bedroom had its own tv and video, whilst the lounge had tv, dvd player and nintendo 64. The hotel has free internet access in the lobby, and a 'dvd now' rental machine which was really useful. The hotel also offers a free shuttle bus to go to or pick you up from anywhere, which just runs on tips. There is also a free breckenridge bus which goes round the town and stops at the local city market (which is a five minute bus journey), and that picks up just 2 minutes down main street opposite mountain sports every half an hour, and drops off outside the hotel (on the orange route).
Our condo was immaculate. It was really clean - I couldn't fault it, and the furnishings were really nice. There is a bit of variation across the condo's - we went with another family, and they had a bigger double bed, with a duvet, whereas we just had fleecy blankets. They didnt have a nintendo, but they had a great view up the mountain and a telescope! The maid service is every other day for rubbish and towels, and every half a week for a full clean, although you can request this more often for a fee. I felt this was quite a long time to go without a full clean, when you're living with two teenage boys, and a messy boyfriend! The hotel is split into an east and west wing, but you can walk between the two on the second floor. Also the Quandary Grill and the hotel's Italian restaurant - Tordillos? do room service, although you can have take out delivered from all local restaurants from a local delivery service. The ski valet is accessed via the lobby, and it was really smart, and its just a three minute walk I'd say to the Quicksilver Lift.
We ate out at The Blue Moose right over the road, which is by far the best place for breakfast in town, but be prepared to queue if you go at brunch at the weekend. Also we went to Eric's which was good, they have a great selection of bottled lagers. We also went to the Dredge, which we renamed the Dredgeful, after having the worst steak ever, and awful service. None of us liked our food, and we all got different meals.
We had a bad case of altitude sickness with two of our group whilst we were over there. We called the local medical helpline though, who sent the paramedics and fire brigade to check our condo for carbon monoxide and everything! We thought the American help we got was great! The two boys were put on oxygen and they improved, so remember to drink loads of water, eat lots of carbs and take it easy for the first few days. We were told by the medics though, the oxygen they sell in town is useless. The boys were ill for two days, and it would have made our trip really bad, if not for our accomodation. The large lounge meant that we could just rent a dvd, get a takeaway, and all sit together on the armchairs and sofa in comfort.
The only thing I missed at the Main Street Station was a bathrobe - I would have loved to put one on after coming in from skiing and having a hot shower. Anyway, thanks Main Street, we had an amazing stay, and will definitely seek out Hyatt Resorts in future.
