I stayed at Wedgewood Lodge for the Thankgiving week at great early season price. The studio was large, clean and comfy, kitchen came with everything except for cooking oil. The location would have been great if the snowflake lift was running. The frontdesk staff was always helpful and there were free apples during the day. The price did not include breakfast so it is better off to get grocery from city market or Walmart in Frisco if you want to save up.

The Wedgewood was below average. We stayed in a townhouse behind the main building. The rooms were cold and furnished/carpeted with below builder's grade junk. the linen's were rough. he bathrooms were sterile. Except for the fireplace nothing about the Wedgewood was comfortable and homely. Considering the rates for ski season I would fin somewhere else to stay.

The Wedgewood Lodge was booked with a ski club trip, so I did not know my accommodations until two weeks before our trip. As some background, we did not know half the people on this trip and was put in a three-bedroom condo with two couples we did not know. We stayed for eight days.

As an aside, the two other couples could suck air out of the room within three seconds flat, so this did impact my view of this trip.

That being said, I found the Wedgewood Lodge highly inconvenient for the following reasons:

1. No bell desk of any sort. All self-service. There is no formal "lobby" drop-off area, either. It's a driveway into their garage. Good luck trying to figure out where the lobby is located once you're standing in front of the garage.

2. Tons of STAIRS. Not only do you have to acclimate to being at 9,800 feet and not being able to breathe, you need to climb stairs just to get to the front door. Then, upon opening the door, more stairs. Since we ended up on the second floor bedroom, even MORE stairs. Envision the fact that you have to carry your ski bag, boot bag, luggage and carry-on up all those stairs.

3. The free "town bus" with not well marked bus stops, never on time, and most had no shelter to hide in on cold, snowy days. Although you CAN walk to Main Street to where the restaurants/shopping is located, it was difficult in the very chilly weather (single digits F at night) and the fact it takes at least three days to get used to walking UP HILL back to the Wedgewood without becoming winded. (Steamboat Springs at least had a shuttle that you could call to pick you up.) On another note, the Breckenridge free shuttle system was not terribly user friendly for newbies with the different colored lines, where they went, what time they were supposed to arrive (and never came on time). We finally figured it out by the end of the trip.

4. The room itself seemed like it was only partially cleaned: the carpet was dirty with bits of I-have-no-idea-what-it-is on it. The blinds did not work because the stick that would open and close the leaves of the blinds is gone. And, you could not manually turn the metal stub because it was stuck. Our room only consisted of two twin beds (we had to push them together), a night stand with two measly drawers and a mirrored closet with a pitiful amount of hangers. Only one trash can available in the bathroom and none in the bedroom itself. The bedding smelled like nicotine. Gross.

5. The supermarket -- City Market -- is quite a ways away, so grocery shopping is a TREK, having to carry all those bags of groceries for an eight-day stay. There is a cab delivery service, but they messed up half our order. I don't recommend using them.

6. No amenities, such as a little store on premises for necessities, like a toothbrush, cough drops, candy, etc.

7. The Wedgewood Lodge is run by a management company that is only open at 8 a.m. to [guessing] 9 p.m. If you call them on their off hours, you will get a tape machine. Nice to know that you can count on someone if you needed something overnight. We had someone in our group who needed a dentist. The front desk was not helpful and said something about it being a Sunday. This is a RESORT TOWN and all of their guests are tourists. Surely there should be someone they should know to call.

The good thing about the Wedgewood Lodge:

1. It's close to the Snowflake Lift. It's within walking distance (across the street).

2. It has a kitchen.

If you like sparse/basic accommodations, then this is the location for you. I would have paid extra to be at a hotel/lodging where they had their own shuttles (I saw several) and a concierge. I would avoid the town bus at all costs.

We're sorry that you found one of our properties less than satisfactory. Unfortunately, we have absolutely no control over the town of Breckenridge owned free shuttle. We do pride ourselves on our location. You'll be glad to know that the shuttle stop is located right next to the Snowflake lift. Literally, a snowballs throw from the property. True, our property management company is on site. We do have an after hours answering company to take any calls that may come in when we are closed for the day. However, they only relay true emergencies to our onsite manager who then takes care of the problem. We are also a condominium complex not a full service, 24 hour, hotel. Lastly, the grocery store is in fact several blocks away from the property and not near the slopes. However, it is located right on the free shuttle route and we provide guests with schedules if requested. The shuttle runs from 6am to 12am to accomodate guests of Breckenridge. The county also provides free transportation to most places in Summit County.

We just got back from a four-night trip to Breckenridge. With ski lessons for three children to pay for, I did not want to spend top dollar for lodging. Never having been to Breckenridge before, I was not really sure what to expect when I arrived and was a bit anxious about my choice of the Wegewood Lodge.

The location is fantastic; very close to snowflake lift and there is also a bus stop right in front of the lodge. The lobby was modest, but "homey". They always had coffee, tea and hot chocolate available, fireplace, books, and large screen TV in lodge. There was also a closet full of games and videos/DVDs to check out (free)--too bad I did not realize this until the last night.

We stayed in unit 524, a 3BR/3BA condo. It was very clean and very well-stocked. There was even a brand new humidifier in the unit. The decor was a bit sparse, but I wasn't there to look at the walls, I was there to ski and so were my kids. I would definitely recommend this unit to families. The only caution would be that one queen bedroom is on the ground floor and the other two (one queen and one w/ two twin beds) are on the top floor. So, if you don't want to be far away from your kids, you would need to take that into consideration.....

This was our second time to Breckenridge and our first to Wedgewood. We did plan late in the year so we had to get what was available. New lesson...plan early.
The people in the front office were nice and very helpful and other than having a blessed time with family ,that is as good as it got.
I was very disappointed in the facility. Our condo or room was very old needed alot of updating. Very scarce with decorations and kitchen supplies. Carpet very old. very few pillows and cover.
Walls very thin and need painting.
Maybe it was just the condo we stayed in but to me I was very disappointed.

First time in Breackenridge. Stayed in a studio apt. Room was great for us. Stayed during "off season" and the room was about the lowest cost for our vacation. Had a hard time finding the lodge but maps worked and got us there.

We booked a last minute (2 weeks before) ski vacation to Breckenridge. We booked via the Vail.com resort web site. For 3 of us, we found a 2-bedroom, 2 1/2 bath townhouse condo at the Wedgewood lodge that fit our budget.

The condo was a 2-story townhouse. Downstairs was a 1-car garage, a fully stocked kitched (no food), dining room for 6, living room with TV and gas fireplace and sleeper sofa (didn't use) and a large powder room with a stacked washer and dryer in a closet. Upstairs was a master bedroom with a queen bed and spacious master bathroom. There was an upstairs balcony off of the master bedroom. Also upstairs was a 2nd bedroom with two twins, and a 2nd full bathroom in the hallway.

The complex is located about 1/2 block from the snowflake lift, and about 2 blocks from "downtown" Breckenridge. We walked to both the ski lift in the morning, found the ski-home trail (4 O'Clock run) which put us across the street from the complex, and were able to walk into town each evening for dinner and souvenir shopping.

The only reason for a rental car was to hit the grocery store, and for our one day when we drove to Keystone (15 minutes away) for some different skiing. But we enjoyed skiing at Breckenridge so much better, we didn't mind skiing 5 of our 6 days there!

Our townhouse was separate from the "main" Wedgewood lodge building that housed a large, indoor hot tub. There is also a dry sauna that we didn't use, but looked decent. Separate mens and womens locker rooms are nearby. An outdoor hot tub is located outside the main lodge in a "gazebo" looking extension of the outside deck. But this hot tub is very small, and only holds about 4 or 5 people. We enjoyed the larger, indoor hot tub after a day of skiing.

The few employees of the lodge that we saw were polite and attentive to our needs. We found the price to be reasonable (part of a package deal through the resort). We would go back to the Wedgewood lodge again, if the price and availability were there.
