“Spectacular views”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 1, 2014

Our unit was very spacious and clean with an attached garage. The mountains were always in view as the many large windows faced them. The best way to spend the week in Colorado - staying on a mountain top!

I loved Breckenridge and was very happy with Gold Point Condominiums. We had a two bedroom and the upper floor was open with a fireplace and a view of the mountains. This unit was much bigger than I thought it would be and was a great staging point for our various adventures. The resort is high so it takes a while to get used to the air.

Dear Jeremy D,

Thank you for sharing your review! We are happy to hear that you enjoyed our large rooms! While we have several different room configurations, some that are not as large or open, we do agree that they all make for an excellent staging point.

Again, thank you for sharing your review and we hope to see you up at Gold Point Resort again soon!

The views from the units are enthralling, the customer service and genuine compassion from Gabby who has worked at Gold Point for three years is immeasurable. You will not find a better and more knowledgeable front desk representative anywhere in the USA. Gold Point should think themselves very lucky to have such an employee.

My kids and I stayed at Gold Point for a weekend just before school started this year, ending the summer with a peaceful re-connect before they headed back to college. It was beautiful. Gold Point is rustic -- the buildings are redwood colored and they fade into the scenery of the mountain top. The resort itself is not at all like Disney world area condos. There is no large pool with slides, no bubbly activities director, no arts and crafts days, no family movies on an outdoor screen, etc. There are no elevators. The clubhouse is small, and the workout area and pool are a little drive down the mountain. There is a shuttle bus that will take you back and forth to the town of Breckenridge, but you need to stand out by the road to get it.

Instead, there is complete peace and solitude in one of the most picturesque areas of the Rocky Mountains. The resort sits atop Baldy Mountain and the views are the best in Summit County (literally -- the only view I like as much is from Saphire Point above Lake Dillon). The area is thick with pine trees, wildflowers and fresh air. The views from the balcony will knock your socks off.

Units are spacious, and bedrooms in the larger units have separate entrances and can be "Locked off" meaning they can sometimes be rented separately by the management as separate units. For example, a three bedroom condo with a lock off might have a large kitchen and living room on the same level as one bedroom and a bathroom, and two bedrooms with separate entrances on another level. Those additional bedrooms have their own bathrooms as well, and may be "locked off" and rented to others as individual rooms (hope that makes sense).

The buildings are sturdy and well made, so we've never heard other families through the walls. The units are updated and well-appointed, but the rustic charm is everywhere -- rough wood paneling, ski closets, barbecue patios, etc. All units are configured in a way you could bring your bicycle inside and store it somewhere if you want to do so.

Summit County is one of the best places in the world for outdoor recreation -- biking, hiking, canoeing, fishing, skiing, snowboarding, rafting, photography, etc. Bike trails are all over the place, and bikers and sightseers are careful to share the road. .The scenery is tremendous year round, and Gold Point's design and location were built with scenery in mind. My kids' favorite thing to do is ride their bikes down the mountain from gold point into town, where I pick them up in the SUV before we head out to other adventures. At the base of Mount Baldy is a gold-panning place and mine tour -- a fun adventure for kids and the adults who join them.

I would recommend Gold Point to serious outdoor enthusiasts, anyone wanting solitude, photographers, lovers, and families who value and appreciate the great outdoors. I would not recommend it to elderly people with mobility issues (there are stairs).

Room Tip: Ask for a unit with windows facing the ski slope.

Unparalleled view of ski slope situated above Breckenridge. Cozy livingroom with fireplace and dining room has a fully equipped kitchen upstairs and a kitchenette downstairs. Master bedroom has king bed with large jacuzzi tub & separate shower. Downstairs bedroom has 2 beds and bath & includes single car garage. Only minus was the master bed had a trough in the middle that you felt like you to hang on to the edge to keep from rolling into. TVs in each room.

Gold Point was the first timeshare I ever bought. My two boys were growing up and moving to Breck...20 years later, one son now lives in Park County (over the pass) and the other returned to our hometown (upstate New York) and I sold my Gold Point timeshare unit.

These condos were originally built with full ownership in mind but with the growing interest in timeshares and not having all of phase 1 units sold, the owners decided to convert to timeshares and later added the lower level of buildings (phase 2). I owned a 2 bdrm in phase 1 and have traded into a 2 bdrm and a 3 bdrm in phase 2. The buildings and units are comparable but the walls in phase 2 do seem a little thinner (sound seems louder in phase 2 buildings).

I love Gold Point because it is removed from the small town congestion that is getting worse in Breck. There is plenty of room to hike and enjoy the mountains and outdoors. The view is outstanding day or night and there is plenty of space to unpack and feel at home. Cooking and laundry are very convenient but there are lots of stairs and no elevators and with the high altitude, it may be a problem for some.

Room Tip: All condos have great views and balconies

We were happily surprised when we saw the fantastic view out the massive windows and door that led to the outside balcony of our 3 bedroom condo. It is very clean and has a very well appointed kitchen. It is extremely easy to make meals here because you have all the utensils, appliances and cookware that you need. It is quiet and beautiful up here. I thought I wanted to be in town but now am so happy that were are at Gold Point. You can see the town below and it is lovely to see the lights at night.

It nice for mountain bikers because you can pick up the trails from near the resort. When done you can soak in the hot tub (each building has one).

The staff could not have been nicer. We chose not to have housekeeping come in and you can save yourself some money. If you want clean towels you can exchange them at the office.

They are in the process of updating their decor and kitchens. Took a look at one of the units that has been done and although it is not a drastic change, it is very nice and I like the new look of the kitchens.

We will most likely come back here when we visit Breckenridge.
