We reserved the place for Christmas Day dinner and it did not disappoint us. My wife, son, and I split the 32oz porterhouse steak and it was tasty, delicious, and accommodating. My other 2 daughters had ribeye and sirloin respectively. The mashed potatoes were excellent. The asparagus spears were lightly breaded and scrumptious. That bread was fresh, hot, and could not stop eating. The chef visited our table to explain how he was going to prepare our steaks. That was truly a first. Merry Christmas to us.

Steakhouses follow a formula, exorbitant prices in exchange for top quality steaks that one cannot generally purchase on their own. While Salt Creek maintains the exorbitant price aspect of this formula, it offers mediocre quality steaks that you can pick up at a Piggly Wiggly. Worse, it has some of the worse service ever. Literally one bite into our starters, the steaks arrived and we were forced to lift them up to make room on the table for the incoming steaks that were being slung at us despite the fact that we were clearly not ready for them. We then asked them to fire and slice the undercooked and non-sliced $80+ porterhouse. When it came back, however, the strip section was simply cut off the bone (not cooked any more) but the filet portion was missing. After 20 minutes of unsuccessfully attempting to get anyone’s attention, the filet mysteriously showed up on a small plate and, when I asked about where it had been for the past 20 mins, the person who brought it merely smirked and said “its Christmas” which it was not. Given that the filet was cold, it clearly was not being fired. One bright spot was our waitress, Jessie, who literally made our drinks herself but really couldn’t singlehandedly fix what is broken about place. Another restaurant would do well to pick her up.

We were lucky to get a table, this town is packed during the holidays, but we arrived at 5:05 and were seated at 5:15. Make reservations!! The wait was 2.5 hours when we left. It's just off Main Street. Overall, good family steakhouse/ restaurant.
Mario (aka super attentive) was our server, and he recommended the rib eye. Delicious! Better than the filet I ordered. Scallops were perfect, and Mario went out of his way to make sure my picky-eater had plain pasta and butter with a mountain of parm.
Cheers to the bartender downstairs, perfect manhattan and good selection of wine by the glass at a decent price.
Previous reviewers complained about pricing. Everything in Breck, and any other ski town, is at a premium. We had friends go to Legends and ponied up twice as much. We went right to Snowmass afterwards and paid $25 for a burger for our son, and it was served cold. They couldn't get plain noodles right. Kid's size was $18 and she could have eaten two bowls.

The upstairs bar looked fun, but not for a 10 year old. We grabbed a quick drink (decent pour and best price of the six day trip) and ventured back into the cold.
