“Vacation 2014”
Reviewed August 18, 2014 via mobile

Our trip could not have been complete without our visit to the Briar Rose which is a recreation of a salon boarding house during the silver rush of the late 1800.
The menu has aged beef, elk, duck, buffalo and chicken. Our group had the aged strip steak, the ribeye and the cast iron chicken (whole chicken split and cooked flat)
I had the special of the night which was a bone in buffalo ribeye cooked medium rare. Topped with a lingonberry reduction made it
perfectly pleasing to my tummy!! My son had the Tabasco jalapeno reduction (don't worry not hot at all)
Fantastic. Family style sides are served to the table. We had Brussels sprouts with chorizo, fresh creamed corn with chèvre and green chilies. Oh I forgot my appetizer jumbo shrimp cocktail with horseradish pane cotta pure delight!!
Reservations recommended!

“Host asked table to leave ”
Reviewed August 12, 2014 via mobile

Dined at Briar Rose for the first time. My husband and I received great service from our waitress. She was very friendly and attentive. We were also pleased with our meals. However, the table next to us had a couple who had finished dinner and were finishing up their drinks, waiting for the rain to pass. The host approached them and said, "sorry to kick you out in the rain but we need your table." Are you serious?! Having worked in restaurants for many years I can understand the need to turn over tables, but (1) this is a nicer, more expensive restaurant where you should be able to sit and enjoy your drink after dinner, and (2) there is a more tasteful way to get someone up from their table. How about offering to buy them a round of drinks in the bar? Although our personal dining experience was pleasant I will not go back. The customer service I witnessed toward that couple has appalled me.

Went to the Briar Rose for a birthday event based on reviews in TA. Service was exceptional, both attentive and friendly. Food was as presented on the menu and very nicely presented. A little pricey, but good for a special occasion. Would recommend.

“Much Better Restaurants in Breckenridge”
Reviewed August 9, 2014 via mobile

Unfortunately we were disappointed with our meal. For the price we paid, we expected better food. There are definitely better places to eat in Breckenridge.

“Very good”
Reviewed August 8, 2014

The ambiance is old West/Victorian. The food is very good, but would skip the game sausage trio appetizer as it was way over cooked and dry; avocado vichyssoise was a bit tasteless and buffalo short ribs were very fatty. The grilled asparagus and kobe skirt steak were very good as were the fresh berries and ice cream.
