I joined the 12:30 snowshoeing group guided tour at the Breckenridge Nordic Center. (I took the BLACK route shuttle from Breck Station to get there). The rest of the group I was traveling with was downhill skiing at Breck, but I’m pregnant so I was wanting a safer alternative to enjoy the mountains. Snowshoeing was a great choice! Our guide Henry was GREAT! Energetic and full of info. The trail was easy enough for basically anyone but still had its challenging parts. We also took a gondola ride where Henry pointed out sites and talked about wildlife and local history. After the 1.25 hour tour, I kept my shoes on and did a trail on my own. The trails are well-marked and vary in difficulty. They go through the woods and sometimes intersect with cross country trails. As far as snowshoeing, it’s basically just hiking with snowshoes on. Definitely an activity for everyone!
Ps. I had lunch at the Nordic Center too. A brat and chips for $7. Not bad!
