Please disregard any previous negative comments
regarding the Abbett Placer Inn. The Inn has recently
been purchased by a wonderful young couple. My husband
and I recently stayed at the Inn and loved it. After
we made our travel plans is when we saw the horrible
comments that were posted on this website. But trying
to find another place to stay in Breck in Feb. is
impossible, so we hoped for the best and got the best.
The Hagen's and Buddy (their Chocolate lab) will make
you feel right at home. The breakfast is wonderful and
Mrs. Hagen makes everything from scratch, so expect to
gain a few extra pounds during your visit. Tea is
served everyday about 5p.m. with a homemade dessert.
Another great thing about this B&B is that it is only
two blocks from Main St. in downtown Breckenridge, so
there is no need to rent a car. There are shuttles
that you can take from the airport. When making your
reservation check with Mrs. Hagen and I believe she
can arrange the shuttle for you as well. I could go on
and on about how great this place is, but trust me,
you will not go wrong when staying at the Abbett
Placer Inn.

We stayed there 8 nights in December. At $160 per day we thought we would be getting nice accomodations, instead it felt like staying at your mean & fuzzy grandmother's place. To start, our room, although big (in the basement) was very dusty. The whole place is very shabby and dusty. The lady that runs the place has a rule for everything and watches you like a hawk. She is friendly until you ask her for something, then she complains and gets an attitude. The breakasts were awful. We kept getting hairs on our food. Everything was watered down, from the hawaiian punch she served (instead of OJ) to the coffee. We did ask to have stronger coffee which she reluctantly complied with lots of complaints, but only for a few days. Everything was met with an attitude, from asking for a glass of water, a plate, or even clean towels. All the other guest felt similarly; one couple quit eating breakfasts after having one too many "hair incidents". We have stayed at many B&B and never had such a bad experience. We have payed a lot less for wonderful accomodations. We felt very unwelcomed and just a source of money for the owner. The only good thing was meeting and socializing with the other guests. The Inn is for sale and maybe that explains the problems, however, we will never stay there again, even with new owners. There are better and cheaper B&B's just a few steps away from this one.

We have stayed at the Abbett Placer several times over the last two or three years. It's not as fancy as some of the other B&Bs, but we have always been pleased with the value and friendly service we get when we stay there. The breakfasts are good, the rooms are a bit small but clean, and it's in a good location. We will continue to stay there in the future.
