This was our first trip to Breckenridge and loved it! We vacationed Jan 21- 25, 2010. In our group there were me, my husband and two other couples. We originally got the 2 bedroom 2 bath townhome, but we had a little problem before we actually got there. I used my cc to book the trip and the other people just called in and made pymts as they could. 30 days before we left the trip had to be paid for in full, so I told them to put the remaining balance on my cc. They didn't, they actually put it on some in our parties cc and he was charged od fees etc. When I called in they could see the notes where I told them specifically to charge my cc. They aplogized and corrected it and then even called his bank to explain what happened. His bank refused to refund his od fees, so Mountain Thunder reimbursed him!!! I thought that was very nice of them! When we arrived and checked in they told us we had been upgraded to a 3 bedroom 3 bath townhome! I was so excited and so was everyone else! It was worth the inconvience of what we had already gone through. The 3/3 townhome was actually the only one with all king beds, which worked perfect for us since there were 3 couples! The townhome was even better than I expected Fully equipped, clean, huge and perfect location near the entrance to the resort! The fireplace was used everyday! Heater/AC worked great, never had any problems. Top of the line appliances and a landry room! Our townhome was #803 and it was individually owned, so that may be why it was so nice. The 2 car garage was attached to the townhome and heated! We couldnt have lived without it and it even fit our Suburan! The resort is walking distance(literally across the street) to the Gondola to ride up to Lift #8(main skiing and activities area). The resort is in the perfect location! You can walk to Main Street where all the bars, shops and eatery's are but we opt to drive and park on the street because it was pretty cold. Would be okay to walk in the spring/summer. Hot tubs were great and even though they say they closed at 10pm, we were there every night into the wee hours of the morning and as long as we kept iour noise level down no one said anything to us. The workers saw us, but they were very nice and let us stay. This may be because the resort didn't seem too full. We did not need to go into the main lobby area because our townhome was detached, so I don't know about those amenities. We did use the driver one night to take us to dinner and he was really friendly, used a cab to come back because we were drinking. I heard the cops don't tolerat drinking and driving up there so we didn't want to chance it. I have absoultely nothing bad to say about this resort! It was great in every way!
Cons: Denver is about a 2 hour car drive to the resort(Breckenridge) because of the snow and ice I couldn't imagine not have a 4wd! We originally rented and minivan, but when we arrived and saw all our ski gear and luggage, there was no way we could fit in a minivan, so we upgraded to a Suburban LTZ 4wd... and got it cheaper than if I would have booked it online,so we were happy! Dollar rental car was great and very helpful.
