We have been owners at the GL7 for two years and this was our first visit. We stayed at the new North building. I must admit, my first thought was that because they were not yet finished with the entire building that the construction noise was going to be bad. Well, I think they must have fairies working on the finish out of the remaining rooms as I never really heard any noise at all! Everything was great!
We brought our bikes and really got a jazz on riding down into town and taking the trail to Frisco, where we ate lunch. We put our older kids on the free bus (with their bikes) and my husband and I rode back on the trail (22 miles round trip but super worth it!) We popped our bikes on the gondola right back up to the lodge. Such a nice perk when you are too tired to "take the hill."
We found that we stayed "up on the peak" much of the time as it was so nice to play put-put and grill out with the amazing views. The full kitchen had everything we needed and we are picky cooks so believe me when I say that we needed and used most of the nice cookware.
We utilized the friends and family program and brought our friends with us and they stayed in town at the Breck Inn. They too had a lovely time and were able to use the lodge with daily passes. We went to the amusement park at peak 6 and the adults rode rides like we were kids again (with our kids), the coaster and luge rides were so much fun, go ahead and splurge with the full day pass and be sure to use your "panning for gold" ticket as well. To see the four year old in our group pan like she was an 1800 gold miner was a hoot. And the stones that you get are actually super cool.
I must say that we were told that the fireworks would be seen from the Seven's restaurant. That was a bit of a disappointment. We saw the "top" of the fireworks and only sporadic. It really would have been much nicer to see them from town. The little ones in our group were a bit disappointed.
Hiking the trail heads located just outside the door to Hallelujah Hut was a visual and physical blast!
After a long day of play, take advantage of the spa. Our couples massage was one of the best we had had in a long while. The knots from the biking and hiking were just left behind on the table.
Overall a wonderful stay. Any time we called needing anything, it was as if we just "snapped our fingers" and it was there. Thanks staff for making our fist stay such a nice time.
