The groomed sledding hill at Carter Park is a great option for kids who are new to skiing and might want a break. Heck, it is a great option for kids of all ages who want to go sledding. Right in downtown Breckenridge. Buy a sled at a local store or borrow one if your hotel has them. Your kids will have a blast.

we had a few hours before we needed to leave for our flight out of Denver so we headed to the park for sledding. our hotel offered free sleds and the kids had a great time. there was a ramp and several repetitive bumps that the kids enjoyed going over as well.

Carter Park offers a lot to do. There is a huge dog park that always seems to have lots of dogs for your pooch to play with. The sledding hill is very fun. Restrooms are a plus for the area as are some nearby hiking trails.

This is a GREAT Park for sledding with young kids. Your kids will love it! As others mentioned, you can't beat it because it's totally free. Even the parking is free and there was plenty of parking in the street. There were only a few spots in the parking lot but the surrounding blocks have plenty of street parking.

Part of the park is fenced off for dog owners and there were a TON of dogs. The kids loved watching the dogs.

The other part has a very good sized hill that you need to walk up on the left hand size. It was easily walkable although the kids got tried after going up and down several times.

You'll see all kinds of sleds! Everyone having a great time and full of families. We rented a condo just a few blocks away so it was so convenient. Everyone super friendly.

The hill condition is great and you can actually pick up great speed. Our kids are only 3 and 4 but they went down alone in the round intertube type of sleds. It's big enough where you aren't running in to people even though there are several people going down at the same time.

Bring snacks/drinks as there is nothing there. Also the water drinking fountain there doesn't work so there isn't even any water there. And with the elevation and dry air, you have to drink lots of water if you're here so make sure to bring some bottled water with you.

There were public restrooms here. Highly recommended for a fun day with the kids. We'll come back as we're here for 8 more days.

If you have kids or am a kid at heart, make sure to bring your sleds and visit the sled hill at Carter Park if you are planning to visit Breckenridge.

First of all, it's FREE to sled here. And this is not just a dinky little hill, it's a nice long slide that rival many other paid tubing hills! Of course you have to drag your sled back up yourself, but it's good exercise and kids don't mind!

There's also an adjoining fenced-off dog park that seems pretty popular, with scores of happy pooches frolicking when I was there. Have fun!
