“Good time w/horse drawn sleigh ride”

Breckenridge Stables
Reviewed March 27, 2012

Went on very chilly night on a horse drawn sleigh ride up the ski hills at Breckenridge. Went up to the point that dinner was served in a hut. Overall the food was good and there was entertainment with a guitar player. Be sure to dress warmly with proper head gear and warm gloves. They serve hot chocolate and have blankets; but, there are not enough blankets to go around. All staff is very friendly and accomodating.

I took my family of 5 to Breckenridge dinner sleighride. It was great and in a real sleigh. Dinner was around $400. The food was good but it was a serve yourself buffet on plastic plates. Dinner was beef pot roast and chicken, with cheesecake dessert. Drinks are serve yourself and the options are hot chocolate, lemonade, and water. Dinner is served in an outdoor building on Peak 9 something like a tent. Entertainment was a singing cowboy with dinner and was great. Being that this takes place on Peak 9, you are guaranteed an actual sleigh ride. This is not always the case at other dinner sleigh rides. We've been to many dinner sleigh rides. The staff was friendly and took pictures of your family. Overall, it was a good experience; however, the dinner portion has been better at other establishments.

Liked the early breakfast ride. A little pricey, but anything to do with horses is.

My husband and I and one other couple took the scenic sleigh ride @ 6PM. The location was convenient to the town of Breckenridge. Our guide was kind and accomodating. Hot chocolate we fixed ourselves in the shed was warm and tasty. The rest of the experience was nothing but disappointing for all 4 of us.....The sleigh ride was simply a zigzag trek up ski slope 9...if you ski, you have traveled this trek several times already. The sleigh benches are facing to each side, making it very difficult to see the only interesting sight which is the town of Breckinridge at the bottom of the slope. The horses slowly trudge at best and stop every few minutes or so to rest due to the altitude. There is never a thought of a trot or gallop until you reach the little bump by the cabin. (2 seconds). While we did not (thank goodness) book the dinner ride...we DID pass the little bitty cabin where it was held..again, right on the side of the ski slope. If you are envisioning "dashing thru the snow, in a one horse open sleigh" STAY AWAY From this experience. TRY DOGSLEDDING with Nordic Sleigh Rides......MUCH more FUN!
