“Beautiful views”
Review of Boreas Pass Road

This road follows an old rail line. There are beautiful views and our van did fine on the gravel road. However, it is a bit nerve wracking on some of the turns but that's what makes it an interesting drive. If going from Breckenridge, once you reach the top, you can turn around and retreat the same path back to Breckenridge or you can continue to the other side to Como, then Fairplay, then back to Breck. If you are with impatient children, I would recommend just turning around back to Breck....you don't really miss much by not continuing down the other side. If you don't mind the extra drive time and like history then going to Como (almost a ghost town) would be worth it. There is an outhouse at the very top. No other bathroom facilities so go before you hit the road.

Boreas Pass Road is a beautiful and scenic drive from late spring through the fall - Road is closed in the winter. The road follows much of the abandoned railroad bed, passes historic buildings from the days of mining and logging, overlooks beautiful Goose Pasture Tarn, crosses the Continental Divide and takes you down the other side of the mountain, past the old roundhouse in Como. Make a right hand turn when you get to the highway and you'll drive back through Fairplay and Alma.

It's a beautiful drive, you don't need a four wheel jeep and the photos opps are fantastic.

Spent the week in Breck for a family wedding. Took the time to do this drive & must say that this should not be missed!! Everyone, including my 3 boys (21, 19, 15 years) enjoyed the scenic drive. We stopped along the way for pictures & got out to hike off a few paths. You can spend as much or as little time doing this. Be sure at least to go all the way up to the continental divide which is approx 9 miles. The road is rocky & narrow at times, but easily traveled by car or van. Just need to pull over to let others pass when able. Not many things in life are offered for free & to see the magnitude of God's creation all around you is definitely worth the trip!!

Wonderful scenic drive, would be beautiful in the fall. Drive took about 2 hours through FairPlay. Road was very narrow in spots. Very scenic view.
