Owner description: Venture over 1,000 feet into a Mountain. Explore the original working of the Country Boy Mine as you feel, hear and smell what it was like to be a Colorado Miner over 100 years ago. Find and keep your riches as you gold pan in Eureka Creek. Examine old photos and other fun exhibits to revisit the past and marvel at days gone by. Pet the roaming donkeys. This is truly an amazing experience and fun for the whole family year round. Come and tour the only underground gold mine in Breckenridge.

the tour is really good & informative. it is cold down there so wear a jacket. the gold panning is really lacking. obviously they don't expect/want you to get gold out of there but the "explaining of gold panning" isn't good. to me this is a one & done kind of place. the owner is really nice & loved getting to pet the donkey. Just know there will be alot of people panning for gold so if you have littles bring water shoes because that soil is red & they will step in the water.
Also if you pick up the little book in Breck with the coupons there is a 10% off coupon in it.

We took our kids and grandkids, ages 6 to 15 eleven of us,and we all had a great time. Our guide was fantastic explaining all about the mine and mining process. We meet the owner and they we very friendly and spent time explaining how they got the mine and restored it. Everyone in our group panned for gold some actually finding some. We brought a picnic lunch and enjoyed the area from the picnic tables. We came over from Beverly Creek and are glad we did as we all had a great time.

Country Boy Mine was awesome for the whole family!! We are a family of 5 -- 2 parents, a 21-year-old, an 11-year-old, and a 9-year-old -- and we did the tour and panning for gold.

Our tour guide was fantastic. He was one of the best guides that we have ever had anywhere for anything. We learned so much and had a great time while doing it.

I highly recommend visiting County Boy Mine. You will not be disappointed!!

We were on a vacation with my extended family, and I took the kids who did not want to horseback ride. We did the tour and the panning for gold. The kids enjoyed the mine and the panning for gold. They learned about each activity and enjoyed it. However, with the AAA discount, 3 kids and 3 adults were over $150 dollars. I think this was too expensive, but since it is so close to Breck they can get away with it. The panning for gold takes a lot of patience, but one person in our group after a couple of hours found a tiny little spec.

Tip: get the guide to show you how to pan for gold in between tours. The explanation right after the tour is not clear enough. It would have made the panning for gold much better if they spent more time teaching us how to pan and even included some gold in the demo.

A very nice place to visit...great tour guide with plenty of interesting mining history to share. My one son loved panning for gold, but only found fools gold. Oh well...everyone was very friendly and the place was great! My only issue was that it cost quite a lot for a one hour tour and some gold panning.
