“This place is the best!”
Reviewed May 17, 2010

I've stayed here at Homewood Suites in Boulder many times over the past ten years and have never been dissapointed in any way. The staff are great, the housekeeping superb and the value for your money is fanatastic if you stay outside of peak periods. If you are traveling with your family, and have kids you cannot beat the place. Free hot breakfast in the morning, and then free beer, wine and appetizers in the evening (Monday through Thursday). It is more like a meal than appetizers (last time I was there they had lasagna, tacos, and stuffed peppers on different nights). There is an outdoor pool, several computers with internet and lots of books. Great place!

We stayed in a 2 Bedroom/2 Bath room (which is really two adjoining rooms) for a week. They have free breakfast and free dinner (Mon-Thurs) which saves money. The service was very attentive and they helped us on several occasions to find local stores and restaurant recommendations. The only negatives is that the pool is outdoors (which we found unusal for a hotel in Colorado), there is little soundproofing in the ceiling (we could hear people walking in the room above us) and the laundry facilities were not in working order. The washers did not spin appropriately which left our laundry soaking wet and the dryers did not heat up enough to get anything dry.

I swear these rooms must be converted apartment buildings. The hotel is actually several different buildings, none of which (or maybe one is?) are connected. This means you have to go outside to get to the lobby/amenities of the hotel.

As others have said, this hotel is EXTREMELY hard to find. You can see it from Foothills Parkway, but as the saying goes "You can't get there from here." The easiest thing to do is take the SECOND left off Baseline, then turn left before Kaiser Permanente and snake around the public library branch. This is the back way into the hotel.

Absolutely request a top floor room, and stick to your request when you check in. The floors are made of paper and you will hear your upstairs neighbor walking above you. (If you take top floor, be cognizant of the fact you're doing that to others...) The rooms are nicely decorated, and the one I was in was rather large and apartment-looking. The rooms are very clean, and other than hearing your upstairs neighbor, I actually got some incredible nights' sleep at this hotel.

I found breakfast at this property to be sub-par compared to other Homewood Suites I stayed at during this same trip. There were some weird and not very good dishes (beef hash?), and the food served wasn't always very warm. The one dinner I had at the hotel was very good though.

The business center was fantastic (warning: no wireless in rooms!) and the fitness center has treadmills with individual TVs in them.

Honestly, the main reason I wouldn't recommend the hotel is the lack of wireless, and the fact that given the hotel prices you usually have to pay in Boulder, there is probably better in town. However, if you DO have an extended stay in Boulder and need an apartment-like atmosphere, this is probably a good place. You are right next to a grocery store and a few restaurants, and could bike or bus to just about anywhere pretty easily.

First off, we had only their address and finding the entrance to this hotel was a big hussle. We saw the building but had to wander around for over 15min. to find the road to go to this hotel.

The building was cheaply made and everything upsair visitors did were audible. We woke up at 2:00 am, 5:30 am and 6:30 due to footsteps and a noises they made. The property had several buildings and only 1/3 of the whole properties looked occupied on the day. Why didn't they put those visitors not directly above us but somewhere else when there were many rooms available? for cleaning conveniences? The noise was extremely annoying and we did not feel at rest at all.

The room had no safe. Also, they need following items in the room: dish washer detergent, dish detergent (while there was a wash cloth, why they don't put detergent?), more ceramic cups, hotel brochure which shows check out time, one more set of shampoo, conditioner, soaps and lotion (we were 2 guests and they left only one set? Please - we never stayed anywhere else who gave us only 1 set.) a humidifier (the room was extremely dry.)

The comforter was extremely bulky and heavy but not warm. Also, for some reason, it was wet and had some liquid spill when we entered the room. One of the pillows had a hair. We requested them to be replaced and they quickly did.

Also, this is a big issue for us - we stayed at a king size bed suite and why the top sheet was not a king size? It was a very thin Full-size which hadly reached from edge to edge. Provide a nice thick, over 200 thread count king size sheet, please- isn't it so basic?

Also, the mattress sank toward my partner and I could not sleep at all. They need to replace it to a better coiled mattress. We wanted more supply of towels, too. We had 2 sets but more would better.

Also, they allow pets but did not have an outside garbage bin nearby nor poop bags. Where are we supposed to trash? In a room garbage bin??!! Heater fan was unbelievably loud like a bomb and again, noise was too much.

Room ethernet did not work for our Mac, and nobody answered the help number. Furniture except mattress was nice but there were many things to reconsider for our next stay.

Our stay at the hotel would have been good but the hotel's staff made it an excellent experience. Service at breakfast was excellent in the crowded dining room. The lobby staff kept tables clean and were always available to assist. Front desk staff was extremely helpful in locating the pain relief medication I desperately needed. They also made wonderful recommendations of places to see around town. My first stay in Colorado was memorable due to the staff at this hotel. I'm waiting for the next opportunity to return. We'll stay at the same hotel if we can.

My husband and I are returning guests because we've been more than satisfied with this hotel before and it didn't disappoint us this time. The king-bed suite includes not only the bedroom (with a large flat-panel TV) but a living room (with an even larger flat-panel TV) with a full couch, easy chair, and coffee table, as well as kitchenette with a full-sized refrigerator, dishwasher, and kitchen table with two chairs! But , as homey as this is, you might not need to eat in your room: you can get a hot breakfast daily in the main lobby (featuring scrambled eggs, sausage or bacon, warm blueberry scones, etc.) and hot evening snacks that change daily (Mondays through Thursdays only). If you return too late in the evening to partake of the hot meal, help yourself to an apple or a cookie available at the main desk. The lobby also has a mini-shop where you can purchase small sizes of forgotten items like toothpaste, shaving cream, etc. The rooms include free high-speed internet; the lobby also includes an executive center with computers and printers. We didn't even use some of the features (fitness center, outdoor swimming pool). The desk staff is knowledgeable and accommodating. (In fact, the manager personally located a room for us on a busy weekend even though the Internet information indicated that no rooms were available. )The location--on Baseline Road with easy access to downtown Boulder and the University of Colorado main campus, and with a view of the Flatirons from the parking lot (if not from one's room)--further enhance this hotel's many positive features. Highly recommended!

This place was nice. Easy to check in. The lounge room and bedrooms were modern but the bathroom and kitchen were old. They didn't provide any dishwashing liquid or powder which was a bit of a pain seeing as they only had a couple of plates and there were 6 of us. Our room was on the bottom floor and you could hear people walking in the room above us. You could walk to the supermarket and a few other shops and restaurants which was handy. Breakfast was also nice and it was included. The afternoon meal provided smelled nice but i didn't try it. They had lots of free parking as well. You had to drive to get to downtown boulder. Overall a pleasant stay.
