“Nothing Special/Location a Poor Choice for Tourists”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 3, 2012

When with our kids, our go to hotels are almost always Embassy Suites or Marriott.
This particular Marriott was just fair. The location is horrible, with nothing attractive anywhere around the hotel. Nothing in Boulder is far by car, but if we returned to Boulder, we would definitely look closer to Pearl Street. I believe the Quality Inn is higher rated by TripAdvisor, much less expensive, and very close to Pearl Street. I should have researched the Quality Inn more closely prior to my trip. Don't make the same mistake.

The hotel lobby is modern and the indoor pool is adequate. The gym itself is pretty bare bones. There was free coffee in the lobby in the morning only and there are free newspapers. The breakfast is not included. The breakfast sandwich was pretty good and not expensive, which we had one morning before heading to Rocky Mtn Natl Park. The room was adequate. If you do stay here, I would highly recommend getting a room facing the inner courtyard as this part of the hotel is the most tranquil. Otherwise, you are either facing the parking lot or the highway with the mountains behind the highway.

We enjoyed breakfast at Buff and Lucille and liked Pizzeria Locale.
Royal Arch hike in Chataqua State Park was pretty tough and in retrospect the view at the end was not worth the effort. We did the series of lakes that begins at Bear Lake in RMNP, which was a much easier and rewarding hike. The Trail Ridge Road drive at RMNP was also well worth it as the views were spectacular. Make sure you drive back to Boulder on the peak to Peak. It added only about 30 min and the views/rock formations were very pretty.

It took us over 20 minutes to check in. A woman at the counter was talking to the clerk, making a reservation for 2 months out. The hotel was full on the dates she wanted so she and the clerk kept going back and forth discussing various options. Meanwhile, 3 families stood in line, waiting to check in. Then the phone rang and the clerk took the call -- and made a reservation for the person on the phone. All of us continued to stand in line. It seems to me the first priority of a hotel is to check in the people who have reservations and just want to get into their room. To have all of us standing there after traveling all day while the one clerk on duty is taking care of people who are trying to make future reservations was a disgrace.
The next morning we checked out at 6:30 a.m. Since the restaurant was closed, I asked the woman behind the counter if I could buy something to eat from their gift shop behind the counter. A muffin -- or anything. "No muffins" she snapped. "The restaurant opens at 7 a.m." And she walked away.
We left to continue our road trip on empty stomachs.
Hampton Inns are so much nicer. They give you free breakfasts and if you have to leave before the restaurant is open, they have free breakfast bags on the counter so you can grab and go and still have something to eat.
We won't be staying at the Courtyard in Boulder again.

Very clean, modern hotel in a quiet area of Boulder. The lobby is very open and inviting. The outdoor courtyard area was beautiful and also very inviting, with cozy chairs and a fire pit. The breakfast area was clean and brightly lit - we didn't use it the next morning, though, as we had other plans for breakfast. The rooms were clean and roomy, staff was very friendly and helpful in finding local restaurants and attractions. We will definitely go back to this hotel when we visit Boulder in the future!

Pretty good Courtyard, good front desk staff, clean rooms and a nice courtyard sitting area. Only real downside....not real close to the downtown area...

IF your looking for somewhere to stay, without concerns, I'd recommended the Courtyard.....

I have stayed here on a few occasions and it is your typical Courtyard. I am not that impressed with the rooms and the free breakfast is long gone. Instead you now can pay for an overpriced meal at their cafe. Yahoo!

Thank you very much for sharing your comments on TripAdvisor and staying at our hotel.
I am happy to hear that you found our location convenient for your needs while visiting Boulder. We opened our Bistro Restaurant in early 2010 and expanded the breakfast offerings including Starbucks 24 hours daily. Also with the new restaurant concept we provide evening dinner and bar services. The Bistro has been very popular with our guests since opening.
Thank you again for posting your comments and we hope you choose to stay with us on your next trip to Boulder.

I stayed at the Courtyard Boulder for five nights on business in July on 2012. I was impressed with the hotel's location; so convenient to Foothills Parkway to head to points south and then just a quick trip west on Pearl St. for Target, Whole Foods, 29th St. Mall, and the Pearl Street Pedestrian Mall, and so many great places to eat.

I enjoyed the refurbished lobby and Bistro; just wish they were open a bit later in the morning for speciality lattes/cappuccinos that they offer earlier. The breakfast sandwiches are delicious!

The room was basic Courtyard fare - clean, basic, and a nice balcony facing the interior courtyard space. In-room A/C was quiet and efficient. Bathroom was clean and shower had great pressure.

We did run into an issue with the hotel's internet throughout our stay; I will say that the General Manager and the IT engineer went out of their way to put up makeshift ethernet-based work stations in the lobby so that guests could hook up laptops to wired internet in the business center, but it was an inconvenience not being able to access hotel's Wi-Fi via any of my tablet/smartphone devices. I have since spoken with the GM and he has rectified the issue and I'm confident that this situation won't arise again based on fixes they sorted out.

Free, ample parking. Great location. Good rates. Nice lobby and clean rooms, plus it's all in Boulder, CO - what more could you ask for?

Room Tip: Rooms facing the courtyard space are nice and have balconies.

This was my second stay in 3 months. I found the lobby, room, food, staff, and amenities to be very good. Healthy choices in the lobby cafe, and free Starbuck's coffee 24 hours a day. Nice walking paths right out the front door that take you towards fields, ponds, streams, and woods.
