“Hasn't changed 1 iota in decades.”
Reviewed July 6, 2014

It makes my heart happy that the Village Coffee Shop was still exactly the same on my recent visit home to Boulder. We ate breakfast here several times and have some tips:

Now this one may sound counterintuitive, and I tested it on three different people: the gluten-free pancakes are by far better than regular. Lighter, tastier. Definitely get blueberry.

We liked all the breakfast meats, and were pleasantly surprised by the ham. Yum.

Tell the staff it's your first visit if you've never been before.

“Best Greasy Spoon EVER!!”
Reviewed June 9, 2014 via mobile

I'm a diner freak and this is by far the BEST little diner ever!! The food is fantastic and authentic diner food with a large menu and many mix and match choices. The atmosphere is perfect for what this place is. Small dining room with hustle and bustle, every table fully seated with a line out the door. The cooks look like octopi as they work several orders at once and you don't have to wait too long at all. Thank goodness for 1/2 orders because a whole order is HUGE. The pancakes are superb with a slight crust on the outside. Oh man, are they good!! If you're in Boulder, make an effort to get to the Village Coffee shop. You will not be sorry... or hungry.

“An Authentic Diner!”
Reviewed May 22, 2014

When you take your seat in a booth and prepare to order from the laminated menu on the table, you suddenly realize that places like Gunther Toody's, Ruby's, and Great Scott's are just diner wannabes. This is the real deal - nothing fancy, just good, authentic diner food. The waitresses are very friendly and the food is served quickly. If you wish, you can even sit at the counter and watch the fry cooks prepare your meal. I ordered the simplest of meals - Eggs, over medium, hash browns (not "breakfast potatoes", or "home fries" or anything even close to being pretentious), and wheat toast plus a mug coffee. The eggs were done perfectly as were the hash browns and toast. The coffee was just what you would expect from a real diner/coffee shop - worthy of a refill or two! My breakfast was an ultra reasonable $4.75 plus $1.50 for the coffee. I will return here often, and you should too!

“So yummy!!”
Reviewed May 15, 2014 via mobile

We received a recommendation from a waiter at our hotel in Denver. This place was packed with locals!! The service was quick, the atmosphere was great, and the food was so yummy that my hubby wanted to make the drive from Denver every morning for breakfast.
Be prepared: the portions are HUGE! Good biscuits & gravy. My hubby loved the chicken fried steak.

“Awesome food / Service”
Reviewed February 17, 2014

I am not a pancake guy, but I have to say the pancakes are amazing. No alcohol but the coffee is yummy to keep me going. The price is great and the Service is awesome. I was offered free coffee to go when leaving to go home. Better then the Buff in my opinion. Only downfall is it is smaller size, but people move in and out quickly. Good stuff.
