There are many different hikes you can take, depending on your time and ability. It is dog friendly and we spent several hours hiking around.

Parking is free and nearby. Paths and trails are well marked. A great way to spend the day.

Did a 2-3 hr hike w/a friend. We mainly just wandered with no specific destination in mind. We ended up climbing some rock formations which resulted in some beautiful views. Along the way saw bluebirds & woodpeckers, smelled some Ponderosa pine bark (smells like butterscotch!), and were awed by nature's color palette.

The Flatirons & Chautauqua Park area is a fantastic place to go, whether you're looking for a gentle hike in the foothills, a longer hike along winding trails, or a more ambitious technical climb on the flatirons. I have climbed most of the flatirons and hiked many of the trails in this area, and highly recommend visiting - anytime, year round. It's definitely helpful to wear hiking boots for the steeper trails. The views really are spectacular, so bring your camera to capture the memories!

My boyfriend and I were only on the ground for 36 hours to take a hot air balloon ride. We made it to the base of the flatirons for lunch. What a beautiful sight!

Looking for a nice day hike - then this is the place. There are portions of this hike that will get you breathing hard, but overall a fun hike with spectacular views. Bring a lunch and plenty of water and make a day of it. If you go you park in the Atmosphere Research parking lot. If the Research center is open, make time to go in and tour it. It is well worth the added time.
