“mother daughter weekend getaway”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 8, 2012

My daughter convinced me we should have a mother daughter mini-vacation in Boulder. Having spent some time there, she knew I would love the hikes, parks, great food, pearl street and general happy Boulder vibe. The St Julien was the perfect place to revive ourselves after arriving from a long delayed flight from NYC. The location of the St Julien couldn't be beat. It was right in town, with Pearl Street out the back door. Our first day outing was to Chautauqua Park and the Bluebell-Baird Trail. As soon as we finished our hike it started to pour. A quick call to the hotel and their van service picked us up in minutes and whisked us back to our room. Day two, on returning from a full day of hiking Mount Sanitas, we scheduled our Rock ON and wrap treatments downstairs in the spa. The spa was lovely and we walked out ready for a great meal at Mediterranean. If you go to Boulder stay here.

Room Tip: I loved our corner suite. Lots of light and great view.

This is the only hotel to stay at in boulder. The lobby has a relaxing atmosphere to it, overlooking the outdoor tables, gazebo and gardens. The front staff is very friendly and helpful. Our room had a small deck overlooking the mountains. The room was fairly large. The beds are extremely comfortable. The bathroom clean and nicely packed with amenities. The hotel also gives free bottles of water and chocolates and nightly turn down service. There is valet parking for $20 per day but on weekends, the parking garage directly below the hotel is free. There is also ample parking spaces within walking distance to the hotel with several hours of free parking too. The hotel is located at 1 end of the outdoor shopping area of downtown boulder. Also, the breakfast is very good and dinner at Jill's is absolutely fantastic.

We just returned from an overnight stay in Boulder. St. Julian was a perfect choice. We were traveling with our with our family. The location was perfect........we used the shuttle for a drop off at a local hotel. Our rooms were spacious, their was water on the end table that was complimentary ( Figi water is a charge) Our breakfast was delicious! The entire hotel staff was a pleasure and very helpful. Saturday there is an amazing Farmer's Market walking distance from the hotel! Definitely worth a visit. Worth the money to have this location!!

I stayed at the high priced St. Julien hotel in Boulder, CO. The wi fi was extremely slow and erratic. I asked the front desk and they said they had called the person who was in charge of this. The next morning the situation was unchanged at 7:30AM. Measured speed was 0.42 megabits download and 0.13 upload. At times the connection would pause for long periods.

The mini bar had liquor but little else. The room was extremely dark due to the decor and it was difficult to get enough light. The room had multiple water bottles that I dared not open since it was unclear if they were free. The bed was covered with posters for events that had already passed.

Except for the downtown location and high end pretensions, the Hampton Inn at 1/3 the price is better.

Dear Normfrommiami,

I am sorry to hear that you found our wi-fi to be slow on your recent stay with us, and that the problem was not fixed in a timely manner.

We seldom receive complaints about the items available in the minibar, which include nuts, candies and other snacks. If guests would like something heartier, we also offer 24-hour room service. I apologize that it was not clear that our in-room bottled water is indeed complimentary; please don’t hesitate to contact the front desk in the future if ever you have a question such as this.

This hotel is small which gives its staff the opportunity to pay attention to detail. They have turn down service and put fresh ice in your ice bucket and 2 chocolate covered Oreos on your pillow.

Spa has exercise equipment as well as spa services. Location is walking distance to many good bars, restaurants and shopping.

Only criticism was that on my last night, they did not give me additional complementary bottles of water or the chocolates. Also, checkout is at 11 and they were booked and coudl not offer courtesy checkout. My meetings ended at noon and this was a little inconvenient but not enough to turn down my next opportunity to stay there.

Room Tip: Rooms are beautifully appointed

We had high expectations for our stay at St Julien and we were not disappointed. We stayed in a two queen bed flat iron view of the mountains and had a great view of the mountains but also of a wedding down below us. The view and balcony allowed great relaxation and reading amongst the views. Granted its right off Canyon Blvd which is noisy but the views made up for it. We were a block walk to Pearl Street West end and it was great to be able to Valet Park and simply walk back to the hotel after shopping. Everyone was extremely customer orientated, gave us complimentary bottled water, printed out boarding passes and all with a pleasant smile. Doors opened at every turn, complete luxury. I am a snob when it comes to hotels and the room was amazing complete with everything you need except DVD player which would had been nice. They did have movies to purchase but they were a bit dated. The beds were extremely comfortable and plush. The only complaint was the runners looked a bit dirty which should not occur at this quality of a hotel especially for the nightly rate we paid. We did visit the spa and again great service and great pedicure! All top notch, would stay again. My daughter is a senior in HS in the fall and it was great seeing CU (one of her school choices) down the street. Just love - see pictures especially amazing rainbow outside our window.!

Room Tip: Rooms facing flat iron mountains due also face busy noisy street but for us worth it, other side is...

As a 2001 CU Alumni and Colorado Native ... gone California, it was such a treat to go back to Boulder and stay at this truly lovely property. The starving student / university experience was definitely a rite of passage, and fun experience (at the time), but to return and stay in a beautiful room overlooking the Flatirons and have every need catered to is priceless...

Walking distance to Pearl Street Mall and all the shopping and dining, this place is by far the best place to stay in Boulder!
