This restaurant is one of my favorites in the area. It is in an great old log building and the food is great. It has a nice relaxed feeling and I just enjoy being there.

We revisited Gold Hill after 40 years and were glad to find that it hadn't changed much. We were delighted to share this location and meal with our son. The three-course meal was adequate for our appetite and outstanding in freshness and quality. The service was top notch and we thoroughly enjoyed the visit. The building itself is worth the trip and the drive up from Boulder is magnificent.

What a trip to find a quality restaurant in a rustic setting w/ an elaborate (perhaps pretentious?) multi-course menu that changes nightly & sophisticated wine list! Family-owned since 1962, the Gold Hill Inn offers diners the choice of either a reasonably priced 3-course or 6-course meal that could include such enticing choices as stuffed smoked trout, roast lamb venison marinated for four days in buttermilk w/ juniper berries & cloves or a Mexican orange pork salad w/ smoked fish in avocado. Surprisingly, however, the evening's chicken entree was disappointing - a meager chicken leg drizzled w/ a bland brown sauce.

Like the restaurant's setting, however, the cheese & fruit tray is mountainous & the desserts spectacular. Service is cordial & professional & in any event, a 1/2 hour trek from Boulder up the windy partially dirt road to Gold Hill, an old mining town, is like stepping back in time & well worth the time & effort.

The restaurant is a hidden gem in the mountains behind Boulder. Very good food, charming setting. I decided to rate it to 5/5 because of the quality to price ratio. 3 course meal is just 26$, 6 courses 35$. The two mains we tried very fantastic: roasted lamb and house smoked and stuffed trout. If I have to find a weak point, the flour-less chocolate cake was perhaps a notch below par with the rest of the dinner.

This is a very charming restaurant located in the tiny mountain town of Gold Hill, Colorado. It is one of our favorite places to take out of town guests. The food is quite good and reasonably priced. We especially love the warm loaf of bread and the delicious homemade jam. Just make sure that you leave enough room for the rest of the meal! The staff is very friendly and makes everyone feel at home. My only complaint is that service can be a bit slow, particularly on busy weekends. I do feel that this is an excellent choice for dinner when you want something a little bit different.
