“a little puzzled about why this is so popular”
Reviewed July 24, 2013

maybe it was just an off night? my husband and i went with another couple. we waited about 20 mins for a table (not bad), however after ordering we waited over an hour for our food. this is one of the few places that brings no bread or chips/salsa to your table while waiting, so we eventually ordered a basket of chips and salsa from the menu to keep from gnawing on the table. once the food got there it was good -but we didn't find it to be anything "special" and the portion sizes were on the small side. definitely didn't find it worth the money. one other thing- the place was so ridiculously loud you couldn't hear what the waitress was saying, and she didn't make any effort to ensure we had. i generally enjoy loud music - but the acoustics in this place don't lend themselves to loud music along with boisterous conversation - the result is you hear/enjoy neither.

we found agave mexican bistro a much better choice for delicious food with some creative flare in a comfortable setting.

“I'm a fan”
Reviewed July 22, 2013

The Zolo Grill has become my regular restaurant of choice when visiting Boulder during the summer. I've been coming here on and off for about 15 years and have never been disappointed. The enchiladas are indeed superb, especially when served with green salsa and paired with a local brew. The rest of the food is nearly as good if you like southwestern cuisine. Seating options are varied and outside tables offer a decent view of the city's celebrated Flatirons rock walls. Service, by the mainly young wait staff, is friendly, fast and highly competent. Dress is casual and ambience relaxed; patrons of all ages are visible from toddlers to octogenarians. Just be careful of Friday nights; space fills up fast.

“Better than expected”
Reviewed July 20, 2013

For a strip mall grill, Zolo's is excellent. I had two business meals - lunch and dinner on different days - and the service, interesting food, good quality and preparation, impressed me.

“Excellent food, impressive service”
Reviewed July 17, 2013

Although it's a casual neighborhood restaurant, our server was outstanding. She was more like staff at a top fine dining restaurant and really enhanced the experience. The Southwestern menu was eclectic, the food was excellent - and beautifully presented. One of our party said the enchiladas were the best he had ever had.

“Great food and atmosphere”
Reviewed July 14, 2013

For years, we have been making Zolo Grill a destination for the best southwestern restaurant in Boulder -- it is one of our family's favorite. The presentation of the food is outstanding and the preparation and mixing of ingredients from new mexico, local and imported sources make for a creative and delicious menu. Their coin style and traditional margaritas are also very tasty. The servers are always very friendly and attentive. If you have the opportunity to sit out on their patio, it offers one of the best views of the Flatirons in Boulder. Definitely a place I would recommend highly.
