There are a lot of restaurant choices in Boulder center and they come in all types of cuisiane. The main hook of this restaurant is that they serve fresh local produce and as organic as possible. That said they still have to provide some bang for the buck. Everything is ala carte. We dicided to split a salad ($12) and it amounted to about two to three bites each. The monk fish was salty and a very small portion with a high price. The duck dish was ok but again a small portion for a high price. the atmosphere is early brick remodel. The wine list was above average and the drinks were repectable.

I ate here on a work trip. The food was very good and the wine list even better. I ordered a few appetizers and those were all stellar. I was also impressed by their wines by the glass. They carry Musar by the glass, which was a treat. The ambience is modern rustic and the theme is very much "farm to table". The restaurant was pretty full for a Wednesday, had a perfect noise level. The attire was everything from jeans to business wear.

The Kitchen has that Boulder vibe of organic and locally grown ingredients. Had the monk fish and it was rather salty and a very small portion. The rosemary flat bread was basically a piece of nan with an egg on it. Tasty but not quite what I was expecting. Dates wrapped in bacon were very delicious. Service was excellent but I felt that the prices were a little expensive for what it was.

My husband and I have eaten at The Kitchen on several occasions. Our most recent this past Friday, January 4 and left feeling that the quality and service were lacking the personal touch they have become known for. Our server forgot to bring a spoon with the soup, menu was limited over previous visits and our drinks left unfilled. We have always been huge fans of The Kitchen but if you are a small party I would recommend having reservations. The seating is not always spacious forcing you at times to listen to others conversations. Overall, good but not great. If you are in Boulder there are better restaurants for price and quality.
