Description: The Boulder Dushanbe Teahouse is nestled against the Rocky Mountain Foothills in Boulder Colorado. Sitting alongside Boulder Creek in Central Park, the Teahouse is considered one of Boulder's most attractive and popular tourist attractions, as well as being a local favorite for great food, tea, and atmosphere. Completely built by hand without the use of any power tools, the Teahouse was constructed in Dushanbe, Tajikistan as a gift to their sister city, Boulder. It was disassembled, crated up, and sent halfway around the world to be rebuilt in Boulder as a symbol of friendship and cultural exploration. The elaborate and creative teahouse now sits as a reminder to the citizens of Boulder to value cultural diversity, global cooperation, and international friendship.

“Afternoon tea delightful!”
Reviewed April 28, 2014

What a find. We stumbled onto this amazing space beautifully architected and decorated in Persian style. A neat story is that Dushanbe is the sister city of Boulder and the capital of Tajikistan, this teahouse was hand made by 40 artisans from Tajikistan. Elaborate rose garden and outdoor seating surrounding the teahouse. Though they have a full menu, we only ordered teas and scones but what an impressive tea selection. Service was perfect and thoughtful. Will be back.

“Simple Cuisine, incredible selection of tea and beautiful building interior”
Reviewed April 24, 2014

When you come here you will never forget your visit! It's a visit to Tajikistan in Boulder, Colorado. The cuisine is simple but good, a mix of Indian and Mediterranean food, wine, beer and their famous tea selection. Check them out Wikipedia! Voted one of the top ten restaurants in Boulder.

“Not a tea drinker? Not required.”
Reviewed April 21, 2014

ONE of my all-time favorite places to not only have tea but to spend time at. The Boulder Dushanbe Teahouse is a BEAUTIFUL building, colorful with intricate tiles painted by the good people of Tajikistan, presented to the city of Boulder as a gift. They offer a broad variety of teas and each wait staff is fully educated in which flavors pair best with foods and your mood. Hot teas are presented with a personal teapot, a teabag holder and your choice of milk or creamer; once you're ready for round 2, you're offered a full teapot of hot water for unlimited taste. The menu is great, the hummus appetizer plate comes with a second round of bread, if desired. Be sure to check out their dessert menu for dishes such as flourless cake and avocado ice cream (subject to change seasonally). There's plenty of room as the Teahouse offers patio seating on both sides of the building and in addition to tables inside, there are pillow seating's placed around a table for a more hipster comfy visit. If you're alone, you can sit at the bar located inside the restaurant. The Boulder Dushanbe Teahouse is the place to be on Saturday's during the Farmer's Market as the market is located directly outside of the restaurant. After a day at Central Park or the Farmer's Market, the Boulder Dushanbe Teahouse is the next place on your list of sites to visit in the glorious city of Boulder.

“A beautiful gem of a building.”
Reviewed April 20, 2014 via mobile

Having visited the Teahouse many times over the years,I am usually delighted by the ambiance, pleased by the food, and annoyed by the waitstaff. There seems to be a policy of hiring attractive people with high disdain for customers. People who visit us want to visit this iconic restaurant and we take them, usually having warned them about the servers. The moment you walk through the door you are greeted by the hostesses who generally yawn while telling you that it will be at least an hour wait. If you are not daunted by this, you'll eventually be met by your server. With studied indifference he/she will give you a menu and disappear. So your experience continues. If you can get out of there without someone spilling on you, messing up the order or just bumping you every time they walk past, you're doing well.
I do recommend the tea, the food is eclectic but decent.
My advice is to visit the Teahouse, walk around the interior and leave. There are so many good restaurants in Boulder within walking distance, it's a shame not to try them.

“Worth the price of admission! and things are a bit more expensive for tea due to that.”

Love sitting cross legged on pillows at breakfast! Art above you and all around you is a must see. If you're a tea officianado then order the green tea flower bud that comes in a wine glass!!
