Walked upon this little place by mistake. Went in and got the best dessert crepe and coffee. Service was perfect. What a great break right off Pearl Street.

I recently stopped at this place, which used to be called Crepes A La Cart, but seems to have been reinvented. I was hoping to get a light crepe with some protein (meat and cheese). What I actually got was a very heavily filled crepe, in fact, so heavily filled that I couldn't taste the crepe. The filling was good, but it could have been wrapped in a tortilla, since the wrapping completely lost its identity. I'm no expert, but I don't think this is what a crepe was meant to be. Why spend the time hand making a crepe, when the flavor of the crepe is going to be overwhelmed?

This recent makeover is a gem - only steps from Pearl Street. Its intimate, bright ambiance complements the excellent French-inspired dishes for both lunch and dinner. The crab benedict for Saturday brunch was scrumptious as was the salmon with spinach on roasted corn. For dinner (we've eaten here twice in the last month) the roast chicken with wild mushrooms was absolutely delicious. Salads are the freshest and well dressed. Wine recommendations were spot on. Our grandson loved his fabulous fruit crepe. Service is attentive and friendly but not intrusive. A new high spot on the Boulder dining scene.

What an unexpected and positive surprise! With family in town on a cold winter night, we decided to get a light crepe dinner at Crepes a la carte after a walk around Pearl Street. We opened the door to a completely different restaurant with white table cloth service. This change of plans turned out to be fantastic. The staff was attentive and kind. The decor modern French and pleasing. But the big win was the food. The new chef that inspired this change matches the upscale decor with a short but well done menu. Everything we had at the table was fantastic. Standouts were the a goat cheese and beet appetizer, the entre crepes (both the vegetarian & ham), mac & cheese, tomato soup with grilled cheese and of course we finished with two faboulous dessert crepes. We had a lovely dinner and highly recommend the new & improved Arlene's Bistro.
