As an avid tea drinker I knew that when we visited Boulder we must stop ate the Celestial Seasonings Tea Factory. All I can say is that this attraction exceeded my expectations and a good time was had by all, including the non-tea drinkers.
The tour starts out in the tea tasting room and ends in the gift shop. The tea tasting room is a wonderful place to explore while waiting for your tour to start as it has some history of the company and some great things to look out like a dress made out of teabags while you can sit and sip as many different types of tea as you would like, both hot and iced. They also have samples of teas that are not even on the marketplace yet.
Next you start your tour by watching a brief video about the origins of tea and the Celestial Seasonings Company before taking an hour walking tour of the factory. The tour includes the tea processing rooms where you see how they process the tea from the raw bags to make your favorite blends. Next you go through the storage room and then the mint room (which is the best) before you go to the factory and packaging parts. It was a great and informative tour and I would recommend it to anyone who visits Boulder!

There is no question that this is a stop that everyone will enjoy. We really enjoyed every aspect of our visit. The tea tasting, the tour, the gift shop, and even breakfast at their Cafe -- it was all wonderful.

One of the neat things is to experience how the tea is obtained, stored, packaged and distributed. When you enter the mint room you'll be exposed to a nasal treat not easily forgotten. Wow!

The breakfast was way more than we could eat... though we did try.

We plan to stop in here again the next time we are in the area.

We found out we could taste teas without taking the factory tour. (We took the tour on another visit and highly recommend it.) The tasting room samples helped us to determine which teas to buy. The gift shop is packed with tea & unique items, many of which are tea-related. There are also lots of unique holiday items and specialty candy. Teas sell for $2.45 per box of 20 tea bags.

We (4 adults) spent an hour at the Celestial Seasonings factory tour on a Saturday afternoon. Free samples as soon as you walk in the door kept us happy as we waited a few minutes.

First, a short video of the history of the herbal tea giant. Then a walk through the factory floor itself where we saw the botanicals sorted, processed, and packaged. They produce 500,000 bags per day working 24/6. Tour ends at the gift shop of course, but no pressure. It was pleasant and educational introduction to a large company that still acts like a family business, located in Boulder since their start in 1968.

Highlight was the airtight room for peppermint leaves-- amazingly pungent, like slicing onions.

This tour would be enjoyed by any fan of herbal teas. Older children would enjoy it as well.

A relative who lives in the area recommended this tour, and we really enjoyed it. It's a friendly, cheerful place with an informative and interesting tour, plus a really nice free tea tasting at the beginning or end.
