“Try the South trailhead near Eldorado Canyon”
Reviewed June 13, 2012

After years of hiking several miles from the Chautauqua trailhead, I took many enjoyable hikes from the south trailhead this past winter. Quiet, fewer people and dogs, great views and options for all abilities.

“Main Street of Boulder Hikes”
Reviewed June 9, 2012

The "ambitious hikers" remark is nonsense. This is a long, but easy trail. You can walk as much or as little of it as you want. This is the most heavily used trail in the Boulder Mountain Park system -- wave to your friends and say hi.

The north end of this trail is at Chautauqua Park. The south end is a trailhead on Eldorado Springs Drive. Many trails branch off from this one.

If you care, cell phone coverage is very good on the Mesa Trail.

“Getting there is the hardest part”
Reviewed June 3, 2012

While it does take an uphill climb from the Chautauqua trail head, running on the well established Mesa Trail is a Boulder must. The trail is relatively flat and rocky in areas, but the views are great.

“Take time to see what Boudler is really about”
Reviewed May 29, 2012

This is one of the reasons I moved to Boulder- the city really cares about trails and the experience of the people on them. Not just Mesa but many of our trails are spectacular, week to week, because they change with the seasons and the plants and the weather. This trail is a bit challenging in places but generally very easy and fun for most ages.
