This is a fast casual restaurant so don't expect the full service treatment. The food, on the other hand, is the real deal. From traditional, tasty recipes like tacos al pastor (not a big portion) to grilled fish burritos (good size, you won't go hungry) all prepared in an artistic, innovative way. The meats here al all natural also so you will not feel guilty ordering the non-vegetarian options. I would definitely recommend this place. It's one of the best, local, fast casual eateries in Boulder.

We loved the food here, but unusually small portions. I couldn't figure it out because the prices reflected main course entrees, but I felt hungry after. I even had to buy extra rice, chips and salsa. And we had to buy the kids burgers on the way home. Never had to do that before. The dinner we had was delicious, I would of paid a little more to get a decent plate of it.
Also the patio could of been so much nicer with a little attention, cleaning and planting it would of made a lovely place to eat.
This restaurant could easily get a better rating, bigger portions, fix up the patio and pay a little more attention to service.

This casual eatery has a simple decor but quite good food made fresh to order. It's definitely a step up from Chipotle fare, with plenty of vegetarian and fish items on the menu. (Of course, there's good beef too!) I like that Pica's meats are natural, hormone free. And an added bonus is there are nightly specials, so if you visit Pica's often, you've got some options.

This place surprised me, but I think if you know what to expect you will not be disappointed. When you first walk in, it looks a lot like a fast food joint in a strip mall, and in some ways it is. You order at the counter, and grab your silverware and find a place to sit. They do bring your food to you, and bus your table when you leave, but you are basically on your own. One side of the restaurant is brightly lit with a flat screen TV, and the other side is dimly lit like a typical restaurant, so you have your choice of environments. They also have outdoor seating. They served my beer in a can, so this is a very casual scene. That said, the food and the counter service were great. The vegetarian enchiladas were delicious, and worth checking out.

While trying to find decent Mexican food in Boulder, we decided to try out Picas for dinner.

You order at the counter and they bring you the food. Other than that, there is no service at all. Nobody checks on you to see if you want water or anything else. Even Daphne's Greek fast food checks in periodically. So tipping should not be done.

The food was good, but not up to par with a good Mexican restaurant. No free chips and salsa. But they do have Margaritas that are made fairly strong. The outside where we ate had not been swept in weeks it looked like. It is a nice patio, but needs cleaning once in awhile.

We ordered the tacos and enchiladas. And two margaritas. That's it. Bill was over $28.

If they had table service and if they provided chips and salsa for free, it would have been worth the money at $28 for two.
