“Great happy hour until 7:00 pm!”
Reviewed July 5, 2013

Besides The Kitchen Upstairs, this is my go-to place for happy hour with friends. Atmosphere is great, not too trendy, too crowded or too young of a crowd. Service is always attentive and professional. Great happy hour drinks until 7pm. Happy hour food is delicious - fried brussel sprout leaves (yummy!) and lobster deciles eggs are great choices. I would skip the cheddar fries, very average. Great place to have fun with friends!

“Hip, cool bar and restaurant”
Reviewed April 23, 2013

Have been in a couple of times over the last few months. Bar crowd, seating, and overall vibe to the place is very cool. Great happy hour specials and a fantastic cocktail menu. Food is good, but not the main reason to be hanging out there.

“The Very Sweet and not so kind...Bitter Bar”
Reviewed March 14, 2013

Heard this was a great place for drinks. Can you say sweet!!! Not "sweet" as in good, sweet as in a long list of candy drinks. Not a shock, the place has a youthful crowd that looks as though they just weaned themselves off of soda pop and have transformed their sugar addiction to include alcohol. My wife said she wanted something from the drink list but nothing sweet. They recommended something, and guess what? It was sweet. I just wanted a dry martini, up with three olives, which seemed way to complicated to them. Boodles... nope, Sapphire... nope, they offered something local and fruity... what ever. It came a little sweet and with only two olives; which is just bad form. I explained that a martini should always come with a odd number of olives, and three would be nice, like I asked. Then comes the eye roll, shocker!
This guy was obviously full of himself, it was his show, his way and has nothing to do with the guest. That's typical these days, a bunch of kids who know nothing working in restaurants because they can't think of a better way to make a living. I get that much, it's the arrogance I can do without..
We ate there at the bar, and the food was... you guessed it SWEET. The veggies had a sweet sauce, the lamb chops were sweet. Yikes, nothing savory in this place. Ordered glasses of wine, Côte du Rhone for me which came from the end of a bottle... the wine was flat. (Should have known better for ordering dry French BTG in a place like this). My wife ordered a glass of Malbec which I ended up sharing with her as my wine was flat and we couldn't possibly get the attention of the bartender socializing with his friends. In the end he forgot to put the wine on the check (this is where the owners pay attention to my rant here) so we considered it even. As we were getting up he cleared and dumped my full glass of wine down the sink without any inquiry why I didn't drink it. The mentality and indifference of employees like this begs the question, who do they work for? Obviously it's for themselves and not in the best interest of the business or the guest.

“Ecclectic Cocktail Speakeasy”
Reviewed March 14, 2013

Located on the periphery of the Boulder downtown this locations serves up some creative cocktails with an incredible ambiance. Both food and beverage is served but it is not hard to see that the staple of this institution is served in a glass. What really stands out about the cocktails is not just the quality of the booze, or the preparation, but the quality of the ice. How many times have you ordered what you thought to be a nice cocktail but were surprised to receive something served at the wrong temperature or with terrible ice cubes which dilute your cocktail; no more. The ice used is prepared in long, thick slabs like that for ice sculptures and cut into thick cubes. Music is appropriate and it becomes increasingly evident that they are very familiar with their niche. I would suggest going during happy hour in order to realize the true value of your dollar since drinks can run around $10-$15 a piece. Choose your occasion and enjoy. Cheers.
