Owner description: Situated in the heart of an energetic city is beautiful, historic Downtown Boulder. At the heart of Downtown Boulder is the Pearl Street Mall, a wonderfully charismatic four-block-long pedestrian mall that celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2007. Colorful, bright flowers fill the mall almost the entire year and street performers, with a multitude of talents, make the Pearl Street Mall one of the best people-watching destinations anywhere.

Unique in every sense. Entertainment on the street, benches to rest your weary bones and great places to eat. The Trolley ride is free and it gets you to where you'd like to go....especially when you're tired. Walking is good but it can be overwhelming.

Strolling Pearl Street is one of my favorite things to do in Boulder, whether with the kids, my hubbie or solo. It is quintessential Boulder with its unique flair and flavor (a little like Telegraph Avenue in Berkeley, California but cleaner with more vegetation). The flower beds in the spring are amazing – tons of multicolored tulips interspersed with primroses or other flowers. Pearl Street is home to many fun and quirky shops (e.g., a toy store –Into the Wind-- for the young and young at heart; a kitchen and linen lovers’ dream at Peppercorn; and a gallery of artesian works for sale from pottery to jewelry to clocks). The street performers keep things lively (including the fire wizard, animal balloon maker, the man in the box and sometimes, if you’re lucky, a parade of well-meaning protestors). Lots of cafes and restaurants to try too, such as a great sushi place on a north-side street (can’t remember the name); a little further west on Pearl there is a yummy gelato cafe. If you can’t get into Snooze or one of the other trendy places for breakfast, Paradise Bakery offers a nice, inexpensive option where you can sit outside or in the community room and people watch.

Pedestrian mall stretching across several downtown blocks.
The essence of Boulder - restaurants, coffee houses, clothing stores, art stores and galleries and the Peppercorn store.
Don't miss buskers' shows in the Summer.

This is a fun spot, with musicians often playing on the mall, and some fun stores and restaurants.
