“A Boulder must do.”
Reviewed April 27, 2013

The trip is a beautiful drive up to the top of Flagstaff Mountain with a trail crossing the road making it's way to the top. So, you can either hike up or many people bike, (not for the faint of heart) by the way I always go up in a car. There are many trails heads on the way up to park and at the top for a wonderful hike. There are trails at the top if you turn to the west when you get to the top that you can walk back a little way and see the snow topped Continental Divide- there is a spot called Artist Point.
The vistas along the road up to the top are amazing there are many pull offs and opportunities to take pictures along the way. There are picnic tables at the top and along the way. There are also grills if the fire danger is not too high. There is also a ranger station and an amphitheater at the top that hosts everything for ranger talks to weddings.
At the many places to look out over Boulder and beyond onto the plains you can identify the CU campus and the downtown area. Take a picnic and enjoy the day. It is right up Baseline Road and you can spend a little time or a day.

“Easy views of Boulder and Bouldering!”
Reviewed April 23, 2013

Take a short drive up Flagstaff and you can look over Boulder from above. Along the switchbacks going up there at tons of bouldering spots just 5-10 mins drive out of town. Obvious trails and chalk marks make finding problems easy to find. I highly recommend driving up at night to get a view of Boulder's lights.

“Bring water”
Reviewed April 17, 2013

This is a beautiful drive with many great places to pull over. Just a few steps out of your car are beautiful outlooks so bring your camera. If you're on a bike the road is narrow but drivers and cyclists are one here! There is a dirt road on the left at the top that leads to Coors reservoir where you can fish or just enjoy the peace and beauty surrounding you. Great day trip!

“Terrific Views”
Reviewed March 9, 2013

Drive or steep bike ride past Chautauque Park up Baseline Rd. Near top there is a pull out with great views of Boulder, but what is special is the pull out at the 4 mile mark on the back side of the mountain to look at the Gore Range and the continental divide. They may be a parking fee at this pullout! (must be tough budget times at Boulder City Parks Dept.)
