“Friendly service but the food was disappointing”
Reviewed March 26, 2013

I was excited to try this place and the menu looked good but the food didn't deliver. It was very bland and no one from our group of three liked their dish.

The service was very good though.

“Outstanding lunch bargain - best value on Pearl Street”
Reviewed March 19, 2013

I have only visited at lunchtime. Dinner may be different.

The fixed price lunch menu is the absolute steal of Pearl Street. $10 for a soup or salad, followed by generous portion of pasta (multiple choices available) or other main course, plus a glass of perfectly decent house wine or other drink. Think about that again - a two course meal with a glass of wine for about $2 more than a sandwich at other Pearl Street locations. It's more than a bargain. And the quality is perfectly acceptable.

It's a mystery to me why the place doesn't get busier at lunchtime. On the other hand it's a peaceful and satisfying refuge for lunch just a minute's walk from my office, so I'm not complaining that I can get a table when I want one.

Some reviewers find the service poor. I have found it slow sometimes, but not a problem; and I can say from experience that if you explain you have only a certain amount of time available they will make sure you get served quickly enough.

“Did not meet expectations...”
Reviewed February 24, 2013

We visited Trattoria on Pearl as our first pick for Denver Restaurant week. We were greeted immediately upon entering the restaurant, and given our choice of seating soon after, earlier than our reservation time. It did not appear as though we needed reservations-most of the time we were eating there were several tables empty.

The ambience of the restaurant could use some real work, the lighting was starkly bright, and the overall feel was less than intimate. The 5280 menu offered a great selection and excellent wine pairings for each course. We selected our choice of appetizer, entree, and dessert. The food was well timed, coming out when we had finished our last course. While the food was good, it was not spectacular. Sometimes the temperatures were off (colder than it should be having just come out of the kitchen, or too hot to eat) and the flavors predictable.

Our waiter was attentive, polite, and did a very nice job. Unfortunately, the mediocre food and lack of ambience just did not live up to our expectations, and we will likely not return.

“An Ok Lunch!”
Reviewed January 10, 2013

It is always a concern when you visit a restaurant for lunch and no one is there. We waited at the door for the host. We heard all of the conversations between the team. Not the kind of lunch we were looking for. The food was tasty and service attentive.

“The Downside of Christmas with the very entitled owner”
Reviewed December 25, 2012

Ever have a dinner spoiled by cold food, a rude owner and extremely slow service? This restaurant is your place! When confronting the owner, he said that I should be lucky to have food at his establishment on Christmas. Nice way to speak to customers! The menu was fixed price and this was not the case when making a reservation and the service was super slow. Ever had warm sides to a cold turkey meal? The owner should close up during Christmas... if his food, service and attitude is not up to par. Hold on to your $ and eat at a restaurant that appreciates & respects the customers.
