What an intriguing place. A friend and I stayed in the Discovery cabin for two nights, and we loved the whole experience. Proprietor Ron is an interesting fellow, a former engineer who has built unique buildings, a tree house, an aerial water wheel, and other innovative things. Outside lights--housed in birdcages and sporting handmade shades--illuminate the property.
The cabin was small and perfect. We knew there was only one bed, so we brought a sleeping pad for the floor, which worked fine. The facilities are rudimentary, with a very small bathroom and few amenities. As my friend said: "Everything you need, and nothing you don't."
We walked around the property and hiked through the Black Forest. It was magnificent! The whole area has a feeling of serenity.
Don't come here if you want luxury accommodations. Do come if you appreciate natural beauty, peace and quiet, welcoming hosts, and flashes of genius and innovation everywhere. This place has soul!
