“Great experience, We'll keep coming back”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 16, 2009

We've stayed at this hotel on three separate occasions--including our honeymoon--because we like it so much. The staff is always personable, and ready and willing to accommodate. The rooms are clean and "rustic," but do not lack any amenities. I will say that we always stay on the club level, so perhaps that makes a difference; however, the staff throughout the hotel seem pleasant and eager to assist.

We are particularly impressed with the spa and pool area--as well as the ski lift directly behind the hotel. Nothing beats a day of skiing, to swoosh down, have your skis whisked away while you go and relax in the lounge before you go out. I also really like the work out area, which has great machines and an unlimited supply of towels, water and sanitizer (important!).

We are going to go back this December to celebrate our one year anniversary.

Our only bad experience at the hotel was at Spago, which we decided was overpriced for the quality of the food--although the Asian pear martini is as delicious as everyone raves it is. The service was fine, but not spectacular. It was definitely the most expensive and least liked restaurant that we have eaten at when we've been in the area--including the local pizza joint (which was pretty good!).

We stayed at the Ritz over the Labor Day Weekend. The staff was amazing. The location was absolutely gorgeous, and we had easy access to many local activities - take the hotel shuttle to the Bachelor Gulch village where there is shopping and restaurants.

The only downsides were that our room, 507, really only looked into the side of some other parts of the hotel, and the patio resembled more of a condo rooftop - not very pleasing - most other rooms had very nice views. The room itself was outstanding, with a separate bedroom and two full baths.

We enjoyed the hotel happy hour at one of the bars - the bartenders were very friendly. They even had an outdoor bar and patio that was located at the bottom of the ski runs - very scenic.

At breakfast, which was included in our package, we had one morning where it took about 25-30 minutes to get our food after ordering. The next morning, it took 15 minutes before anyone came to our table.

Kudos go to the Concierge staff - they took care of our every request and inquiry.

Overall, we had a great stay.

We went to this property over the holidays to get engaged and it was a disaster from day one. Our room was right next to a generator or heating system, so our room vibrated the entire stay. The rooms were not your typical Ritz rooms, the carpets were dirty and the decor was outdated. The restaurant Sago was horrible and the service was even worse. People were leaving without paying their check because they couldn’t get a waiter to help them. Day one; we go to retrieve our brand new range rover from the valet only to find out that our vehicle had been wreck by the valet department and was not drivable. The back right quarter panel and side were smashed in, the wheel was bent under the car. The entire back right suspension was destroyed. Our vehicle had to be towed to Denver for repair and it took the entire month of January to repair. The hotel did comp our stay, which was the least they could do. They paid for the repair of the vehicle and had it transported back to us in St Louis, MO. However, dealing with the Marriott insurance company that the Ritz uses has been by far the worst experience imaginable. Since we've received our vehicle back the following has happened; exterior pieces have fallen of the car while driving down the highway, the rear suspension rattles and squeaks, the rear lift gate has randomly opened while driving, the right rear hydraulic feature for raising/lowering suspension doesn't work properly and the dealership informed us that the damage depreciated our vehicle over $20K. We keep going back to the insurance company explaining the continued problems and they blow us off or offer us a measly couple grand to settle. Since this incident my wife and I have not returned to a Ritz-Carlton Property and will never again. We use to stay at Ritz properties 3-4 times a year. We also had plans to have our wedding at a Ritz-Carlton Property but did not because of this. We found a great hotel in the Bahamas that was not connected to the Ritz or any of their other management companies to have our wedding. It’s disappointing that after being a long time customer something terrible happens, while staying at their property, we have to fight the insurance company to make things right. We have been battling with this for 10 months.

I went for a friends wedding held at the hotel. This place did not impress me at all. The rooms were hideous, only the the bathroom was nice. The service was OK and the only amenity that was worth the money was the spa/sauna. The pool is small and not enough chairs around, and being that it's a ski resort the surrounding area is not that great in the summer. You need to rent a car to get around and it's a long drive in the summer in traffic to the denver airport.

With our luggage (including ski gear) being delayed for two days following our flight from Oslo, Norway, we were 'forced' to enjoy the hotel amenities rather than the powder packed slopes. Coming from the country were skiing was invented this could have been a major letdown on the first leg of our honeymoon, but at the Ritz-Carlton spa, great hall and dining facilities the slopes were soon forgotten.

While some may argue that it lacks some of the character of the high end resorts in Courchevel, St Moritz and Zermatt, we were extremely impressed with the excellent facilities, very attentive service and high quality rooms. The spa and outdoor pool area is particularly impresssive, as are the ski lift from the front of the hotel. Attention to detail in order to create the ultimate mountain holiday atmosphere is taken to the extreme - including s'mores at the outside firepit and an inhouse labrador! Despite being a very large hotel including condo units, the service is very personal and friendly - always impressive when the staff a hotel this size knows your name the first day of your stay.

Food is good, but pricey - several high quality restaurants in the village and in the slopes provides better value.

Stayed at the Ritz Carlton on the club level for five nights in July and had a wonderful time.
The service and food were excellent and the hotel is beautiful. We really enjoyed the concierge on the club level. They were so helpful, friendly and made our stay even more special.
Also, the health club and pool were very nice.
On the negative, the pool service was lacking and we were slightly disappointed with Spago. The food was outstanding, but our table "sucked" for lack of a better word. We assumed incorrectly that being actual hotel guests with an advance reservation would garnish a nice table...but that was not the case. Not a huge deal, just a comment.
The rooms were very nice and comfortable, but I was surprised that we did not have two sinks and that the shower was small. That is not what we have experienced at other 5 star properties.
All in all, a great place and we will definetly go back.

the location was perfect. service is great. best service at the door and valet. a tad understaffed at the desk in summer, but relax and enjoy the tasty water while you wait.

did the milk bath -- not worth the $80 we paid. it really was just water with bubbles and maybe a teaspoon of milk or something...

rent bikes in vail not over at beaver creek. much less cost wise and better trails.
