We recently stayed at the St. James Place from December 28th through January 4th. Being from New York and this being our first trip out West to ski, I relied heavily on the concierge team to help me plan our trip. I initially spoke with Paige but just based on scheduling worked primarily with Janice to plan our vacation. Janice assisted us in making numerous dinner reservations (not an easy task for a party of 7 over the Holiday week!) She also helped us plan dog sledding, ski biking and many other activities. Janice was a pleasure to deal with and was quite knowledgeable. She called back when she said she would, looked into messenger service for us, and overall went above and beyond my expectations! Janice also recommended the restaurant we ate at for New Years Eve (8100 Mountainside) and we had a delicious dinner. Additionally, we decided to ski Vail one day and Paige hooked us up with a rental car on short notice that was delivered right to the St. James Place. She did a great job in mobilizing us on short notice. Our trip was fantastic and one that was quite memorable. Everything just seemed to work out! I know our family will be back to Beaver Creek and will likely stay at the St. James Club again.

This was our 2nd stay at St. James, and we are very glad that we returned. Our first visit in March 2012 didn't meet our expectations, so the manager offered us a free night if we gave St. James a second chance. This visit was SO MUCH better-even before we arrived on New Year's eve for a 6 night stay in a 2 bedroom plus den unit (#316). The concierge called about 2weeks in advance to see if I needed any help with dinner or other reservations. I was already set but appreciated the call and during the trip stopped by a couple of times with practical ?s which she graciously answered. A couple of days before the trip I called and asked about having a slightly early check-in or what our options would be since we'd be driving up from Texas and trying to beat a large snowstorm in the I-70 area that afternoon. We beat the storm and were able to check in about an hour early. Check in was friendly & helpful, and we were reminded about the garage entrance location and which ski locker we'd have (there are two locations, on different floors.)
Our unit was excellent. It was very spacious and nicely but not overly decorated, with some updates and overhead lighting in every room. Kids loved having a trundle/bunk bed in one room. I loved having a large den with a table for eight plus a table for four so that we could air out our gear and still have room to eat (seven people have a lot of winter gear!). We ended up having some friends over for dinner on short notice, but there was space and dinnerware for all of us.
As far as amenities go, the free wireless internet worked well. There are DVDs available for check out at the concierge desk. Hot cocoa, coffee, tea, orange water, & granola bars are available in the lobby plus there is hot apple cider on Saturdays. There are daily newspapers in the lobby. The pool & spa areas have been redone, with plenty of lounge chairs, towels, and tables. I chose to stay in the indoor hot tub as temperatures were below zero in the late afternoon. There is a small fitness room with treadmills, a few machines & weights that worked fine for my daughter & husband. We had an issue with the heater not working in the master bedroom, but a serviceman arrived within minutes of our call and quickly repaired it. We had daily housekeeping and appreciated having a recycling bin.
The location is very good for the price as it is in the main village, by the ice rink and just outside the Park Hyatt, which costs a lot more. The easiest way to get your kids to and from ski school is to take the stairs by the Metropolitan restaurant up to the park Hyatt entrance. Take a left, and you will be right by the Buckaroo gondola, which is the meeting area for kids ski school. I came back this way at the end of the day when I was cold & tired and not wanting to go down the stairs into the village then back up the stairs to our locker. It is possible to ski close to the unit if you take a trail (Centennial way?) near the highlands lift, but I didn't use it (my husband did once and said it was a bit icy). We chose not to eat lunch at our condo as we felt it wasn't worth the time to come down the mountain, especially since our ski time was shortened by the cold weather & icy afternoons. Our teenager had his own locker & room key so that he could sleep later and come back earlier than the rest of us.
We would recommend this to families and more than likely will stay here again the next time we visit Beaver Creek.

St. James was extremely enjoyable. Not only was it so convenient to the village but it was clean, and comfortable. The people were so welcoming and ready to meet our every need. The front desk always made sure we were enjoying our stay and seemed genuinely interested in what we were doing and also ready to help with suggestions to make our trip even better. I can't say enough about them. Would highly recommend staying there!!!!!

Room Tip: Liked the higher floors that overlooked the village and yet were quiet.

St. James Place was right in the heart of the village and more comfortable than the luxury hotels surrounding us. We stay in BC a few times per year all throughout the mountain in hotels, condos and homes. The location was awesome for dropping the kids off at ski school and getting back to the condo for our 2nd cup of coffee before hitting the slopes ourselves. Having the extra room and space in a condo was more comfortable for our family. Of course having our own kitchen and laundry and pool were convenient....as were the restaurants, pizza, shopping, and drinks just steps away. Lastly, the customer service was top notch here - polite, quick, and responsive to attend to your needs. We will book here again!

Room Tip: Our room was partially overlooking the village and the east side, nice views from every window.

Dear Tripadvisor Contributor:

First and foremost THANK YOU! It is sadly all too rare these days for people to take the time to give us the feedback we need to exceed your vacation expectations but when we do receive it is an extraordinary gift to both me as the General manager in order to provide a consistent level of service and hospitality but it is a huge morale boost to my staff when their efforts are acknowledged

Thank you again for taking the time and we look forward to welcoming you back to the St. James Place in the very near future.

Sincerely,
Thomas Randall Smith
General Manager

Stayed here for the past seven years, (five as a 'time-sharer') The 3 bed condo is huge (1800+sf) and very comfortable.
Front desk, Housekeeping and Maintenance people are without exception most helpful at all times, whatever your problem is, or seems to be.
It's a very friendly place to stay, free Chocolate, Tea and Coffee in the Lobby all the time and free WIFI everywhere. No parking problems with a huge underground Garage and the Gym, Pool, Sauna, and Hot Tubs all are good. Grab your skis from your locker and walk 100 yards accross the Piazza for the excalators to the Lifts, or just walk 50 yards to the Villar Centre escalator and take the free bus to Bachelor Gulch. For eating out the 'Dusty Boot' Gastro Bar (great steaks!) is 5 yards from the front door and there are a dozen others around the Ice Rink - or call 'Dial a Ride' for free transport to any of the other BC eating places a bit further away.
Very highly commended by the many friends who have visited BC with us.

Room Tip: 3 bed units have vaulted ceilings 2nd floor and up. Best are units with 'odd' numbers - the...

There is no other complex in the Beaver Creek area that has a great staff and an excellent location. Parking is good, the staff is friendly, and the building is great. They are always working on updating the facility to make our experience better. We have owned a condo here for 10 years and we are very happy with our unit. It is family friendly yet we also use it for adult ski trips. Either way, it is a great place to be!

I've been skiing at Beaver Creek for 20 years and stayed almost everywhere the mountain has to offer from the Hyatt at the base of the mountain to Elkhorn with its own ski lift–St. James Place in the village takes the cake. It has the best concierge, the most comfortable rooms, best location to the village's shops and restaurants, a luxurious pool and pool area, steam room, sauna, gym and two hot tubs: one indoor and one outdoor. The service is amazing and quick and and the staff are the nicest and most attentive I've ever experienced. My family and I love St. James Place and its condos so much, we just bought one.
