“Great location and quality condo”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 4, 2013

We stayed in Unit 508 over spring break. The unit is well appointed with TVs in every room and wifi throughout the unit and its very well decorated. Quality beds and linens. The kids stayed in a room with bunk beds with the bottom bunks being queens. The ski lockers on the bottom floor were great and the staff was very helpful for our entire stay. I would highly recommend this unit to anyone looking for a very nice condo with great views and ease of ski in ski out.

The only two cautionary notes I would make is that cell reception is terrible - not a fault of the condo but if you need to work during vacation like me it is something to plan for in advance. I used Skype over the wifi and it worked fine but you need to be prepared to deal with it. This is true of not only Snow Cloud but most of Beaver Creek and Vail. The second comment is that the restaurants are fantastic but there isn't a great low cost option at Bachelor Gulch - but the shuttle to Beaver Creek is on demand and free and it is a short drive.

Room Tip: 508 is an excellent unit

We stayed over spring break; two adults and three teens. The location was excellent, true ski-in, ski-out. No narrow, winding access trails like some condos. We literally overlooked the base of the Bachelor Gulch lift. Walk to the ski locker, put on boots and ski from the front door to the lift in 10 seconds. Couldn't get easier. Beware, Bachelor Gulch is quiet and the only restaurants are in the Ritz next door which are expensive and SLOW, so we ate lunch in the condo most days to get the runs in. The Ritz next door does have great apres skiing right out front though. The quiet location suited us fine. The village is an easy ten minute free, on-demand, door-to-door, shuttle ride away.

With hotels/condos, I always base my reviews and expectations on the cost and advertised rating of the unit. We paid handsomely for the supposed 5 star unit but it fell flat on my expectations. For the good, the 3 bedroom, 31/2 bath layout was perfect: master bedroom on one side of the central living room kitchen area and two bedrooms on the other side. The bones of the unit like the kitchen and baths and fireplace were all nice. The caveat here is that all units are individually owned, stocked and decorated, and supposedly there are some "tricked out" units to be had, but we sure didn't get one of them. The bad...where do I start? Our unit (#714) was stocked like a cheap 3 star unit down in Avon. The beds were terrible and the bedding was low quality. For what we paid, I expect comfortable duvets, decent linens and pillows that don't come from Walmart, not to mention a decent, non-lumpy bed. The living room furniture consisted of some uncomfortable pseudo-Baroque couch and two chairs that were inappropriate for a ski unit. I want casual and comfortable furniture to relax in and watch some TV after a long day on the slopes. Speaking of which, they only had limited, basic, non high-def cable for a big flatscreen TV. That too was very irritating, considering what we paid. How frugal can the unit owners get? As for the kitchen, where do I start? The owners clearly do not cook. All utensils, pots, pans, etc were the cheapest dollar store, garage sale offcasts. The toaster, coffee maker and blender were barely-functioning $10 Walmart units. Hardly 5 star!

The other bright point...the staff at Snow Cloud. They were friendly and accommodating like everyone in the Beaver Creek Resort. They even graciously replaced the coffee maker and toster after I complained.

All in all, I would stay again at Snow Cloud again if I could be guaranteed an actual 5 star unit. I'm not sure how one goes about getting a good room assigned. Whatever you do, don't stay in unit 714 unless you get a discounted price that reflects it's poor furnishings.

Room Tip: The slope side has a great view over the runs but the groomers run outside on the slopes in the midd...

If you are looking for a true ski in/ski out this is it, an absolutely awesome location with the ski lift right outside the door. The Bachelor Gulch side is very quiet though so if you prefer the buzz of the village this side may not be for you. The only restaurant option is next door at The Ritz. I, personally, much prefer waking up, stepping outside to the lft (with no lines) and being able to simply ski right up to the door to come in for lunch. I'm not here to be seen but to ski all day. If you are a 2 run then people watch kind of person, you won't be happy on this side. There are regular shuttles that will take you over to the main village to ski or eat in the evening but for me it was too much of a pain to bother with more than the one day we did it.

These units are individually owned so you don't know what you get until they assign one to you. We got unit 714. We won't be asking for this one again. It was like after the owner spent the $1.8M to purchase it, they then bought the cheapest furnishings they could to fill it. The LR couch and chair are not appropriate for relaxing after a long hard day of skiing. All of the beds are uncomfortable with the cheapest pillows one can buy, I'm thinking dollar store pillows, bedding? The the enormous amount of money I spent to stay here, I expect my bedding to at least be what I get at a Marriott? No duvets either. I had to ask for some but they brought me two quilts which again look like they had been purchased at the dollar store. Very disappointing. The kitchen buildout is nice but it was very poorly equipped to actually cook in. Again, it was like the owner received a list of what is needed and took the list to the same dollar store. Maybe they hope you won't cook? Pictures and decor look like they are from garage sales and poorly arranged. Let me at this place, I'LL decorate it!!!!

Now, for the staff. The staff from the gate people, bus drivers, snow cloud employees, lift personnel, everybody is sooooo friendly! We did not encounter a poor attitude from anybody the whole trip. It's like Disneyland on the mountain. I can definitely see why their moto is "not exactly roughing it".

We do plan on returning and would probably stay at Snow Cloud again if we got a unit furnished better. Otherwise, we may check out The Ritz next time. Still, you can't beat the location if you like quiet.

Have stayed in numerous other locations in Beaver Creek. Snow Cloud win's the day by a wide margin. The location, service, friendly staff and the little things add up to make your stay stress free. Highly recommend...

How can you beat having a ski lift out your front door that never has a line with skiing all over Beaver Creek and Batchelor Gulch available. The condos are very upscale and the lobby and hot tubs are first class. There are ski lockers off the lobby. You are just steps from the Ritz-Carlton too. You have all of Vail and Beaver Creek available but you are away from all the crowds in a private community like setting.

We stayed at the Snow Cloud Lodge Jan. 25th-30th in a one bedroom condo. It was more than enough room for myself, husband and 10 year old son. And it was very well appointed - I truly felt at home. This lodge is a skier's dream come true! It is a true ski in/ski out lodge. The ski boot lockers are located about 20 steps from the exit to the slopes. It was spoiling to ski less than 25 yards to the lift! There is a connecting green ski run to Beaver Creek - which takes about 10 minutes to get to the lifts in Beaver Creek Village. We were able to ski in Beaver Creek and take the last lift ride (that closes at 4:00) and ski back to our condo in Bachelor's Gulch returning by 4:30. The lodge has two hot tubs facing the slopes - and continually serves snacks, Starbucks coffee, lemon water and fruit in the lobby (and of course, chocolate chip cookies at 3:00).
The Snow Cloud is adjacent to the Ritz - so you have the convenience of the RItz amenities. The outside fire pit area at the Ritz serves a great lunch and is a kid friendly apres ski area after a long day of skiing (roasting smores, hot chocolate, etc.) I also loved the the live music at the base of the Bachelor's Gulch lift that started everyday around 12:00. Your kids will need to know how to ski if you plan on taking advantage of the ski in/ ski out advantage of this property as the ski school is located in the Beaver Creek Village base area (about a 10 minute shuttle drive from Snow Cloud). In my opinion, well worth staying here and taking the shuttle to the ski school - it is that amazing! Perfect property for families with kids.
We used the resort shuttle to eat in Beaver Creek Village every night. It was very convenient and efficient. The shuttle ride is about 10 min from Snow Cloud and we rarely waited over 10 minutes for our ride. The shuttles do not take you to Avon - which is the nearest grocery store - so you will need a car or cab to get groceries to your condo. There is a small market in Beaver Creek Village. Lots of great places to eat in the Village!
We had our skis rentals delivered to the property. The delivery company will meet you at a designated time in the boot locker room. And they pick up the skis when you are done. It was unbelievably convenient.
The staff was very kind and helpful - we had a big winter storm hit our last day and they helped return our ski equipment because we had to leave early for the airport. Extremely kind staff - truly the best.
We are all hoping to return to this property again next year. What I love most about the Snow Cloud and Bachelor's Gulch in general is the beauty, serenity and Colorado feel of this part of the mountain. Beaver Creek Village is beautiful, too. But these areas very different. Beaver Creek Village is a busier area. Bachelor's Gulch is quiet, less hectic. It was a perfect ski trip!

Room Tip: There are ground level condos available on the lift side that are ski in/ski out of the individual u...

We first stayed in Snowcloud Lodge 7 years ago and have been going back each year since then. The location is incredible, a true ski in and ski out with the Bachelor Gulch lift literally right outside the back door. All of the condos are beautifully furnished and with all of the conveniences of a home.
